I have seen “White pearl” last night. It is rather funny and explores an area (racism in Asia) I did not know very well. Some characters are quite sketchy but overall it is enjoyable and the same actors seem to enjoy the experience.

Saw it a couple of days ago: plot wise its not great but its funny and well acted in places. 3.5 stars id say!

Found it an uncomfortable watch not knowing the culture, showing my age felt like an Asian mind you language with all the protagonists reflecting an Asian nation with their underlying conceptions / misconceptions of each other.
Was funny and well acted but not sure what it was looking to achieve.

Saw it last night. the talkback after was better than the play -- the author came across as incredibly smart and also a lot of fun.

This was ok without being great. Felt like a ratking at tomes with all the cast tearing furballs out of each other. Interesting to see a play about east Asian concerns written and performed entirely by east Asian actors. Somehow whenever there is talk of diversity in theatre the diversity referred to seems to be only of a limited kind.
I venture to suggest that were a play of this nature about prejudice and racism to be written from a white European perspective, it would almost certainly (in the unlikely event of its getting produced) lead to a storm of indignation in the media and demonstrations outside.
