This has the potential to be the beginning of a new cult british musical starting next week, the team are all very talented and the subject matter is certainly interesting. Had a listen to some of the songs and they're really catchy with very funny lyrics. Blurb from the website - "The year is 1943 and we’re losing the war. Luckily, we’re about to gamble all our futures on a stolen corpse.
Operation Mincemeat is the fast-paced, hilarious and unbelievable true story of the twisted secret mission that won us World War II. The question is, how did a well-dressed corpse wrong-foot Hitler?
Operation Mincemeat is Singin’ In The Rain meets Strangers On A Train, Noel Fielding meets Noel Coward, in a new collaboration between three members of award winning Kill the Beast and glam-punk composer Felix Hagan."

I saw a snippet of this at The Other Palace last year and it sounded so good. Can't wait to see it!

This sounded interesting so I listened to the samples on Soundcloud and was glad I had, as with a running time of 2 hours plus, there's no way I'd want to sit through this type of work and with so much music in a similar style. Each to her own, however, and I was glad of paplazaroo's OP as I wouldn't otherwise have known about the production and I do like to support the New Diorama. Mind you, the last show I saw there, despite being much-praised, was torture to me.

If Felix is involved expect glitter and feathers.
Also strongly dislike the use of words like "hilarious" in press blurbs. Humor is so subjective, if a reviewer uses it that's fine because it's their opinion, but marketing a production as "hilarious" feels a bit like that opinion is being on you.

Each to their own I guess. I've loved a lot of what I've seen at New Diorama, what didn't you like showgirl? I'm inclined to support them as a theatre because they're very generous and forward thinking and as a non NPO they punch massively above their weight in terms of supporting creatives. I saw Kill The Beast's 'He had hairy hands' and found that pretty hilarious but also really visually inventive.

This was probably 3/5. Songs very good, some good performances, but the comedy and stuff In between songs not good. Bit too long at 2.5 hours as well.

It was the dire Dinomania, which will take me some time to forgive and forget.

I'm probably more in your father's age range, paplazaroo, which might explain it. Now if appeal could be rated by age range, we might be onto something...

I caught this with a near-capacity crowd Saturday afternoon and had a good time. It was way too long and should've ended when the mission did - the extended post-script is of historical interest and gets a few laughs but is hardly worth the extra time. However, the story and all of its very plot strands is a complex one so it will always take some time to get through. There are too many verses in many of the songs and they could be cut in half. Right now it's an energetic Edinburgh fringe show, for it to be 'a little show that could" like The Play That Goes Wrong" or "The 39 Steps" they need someone to come in and cut and polish it. The amazing thing though is that they found a way "in" to the story to make it work and as a musical yet. Glad I saw it, I hope the show's journey won't end here.

I waited too long after the positive reviews came out and it was sold out when I tried to book 😩😐

I want to see this *so Much*. I saw about 3 and a bit songs from it when it was a very, very early WiP at The Lowry in a Scratch Night, and was gutted when I missed it at New Diorama. I shall have to try and figure out a trip to London, unless it's touring???

I think it will end up touring next year but can't be sure if and when it'll happen. Probably my favourite show this year 💖 x x x

But what actually ‘is’ it? Are you asked to keep the secrets like ‘Leeky Boom Boom’ or whatever it was called or what?

But what actually ‘is’ it? Are you asked to keep the secrets like ‘Leeky Boom Boom’ or whatever it was called or what? lol. It's a comedy musical based on real life Operation Mincemeat, an operation that happened in world war 2. Don't want to say much more cause spoilers but it's a brilliant and hilarious show, I saw it twice at the New Diorama!
