Michael Ball was meant to be an n/a for 20th July performance but he’s now doing it. It will be the first resumed performance.

Gavin Alex has just tweeted that he's joining the cast.
He played Corny Collins during it's original West End run but nothing to suggest Michael Vinsen has dropped out.
I wondering if they're boosting cast numbers to try and avoid a full on shut down again?

Several off-site new swings and covers have been cast in the past week to reduce the risk of cancellation in case of individual positive cases. |

Michael Kent is another one for the original cast who has been brought back. Not sure he’ll pass still for a Nicest Kid but time will tell!!

There's only one cover for most roles, so they're probably bringing more swings in to be able to get 2 covers for the majority of principle roles.

Looks like this will be reopening on the 20th as promised, I already had tickets for that night, but as this will be the first non-restricted performance, it should be a great night.

Want to book for this but in two minds about booking at the moment. Advanced ticket sales are not great going into August and I would usually book top price. Do we think that offers are going to pop up for this? 24th August looks to have only sold 10-15% of tickets...

I booked in tickets today via TodayTix and just noticed that it's mentioned on a seperate ticket website that Michael Ball isn't performing tonight.
Does anyone know if this has only just been announced?

I think Michael wasn't originally scheduled for tonight, but because of the cancellations he will now be performing. Or it could have all changed again!

TKTs (online now the booth has closed) have discounts for tonight.
For some reason, they appear if you click through from the calendar page, but not the main page.
Unlike TodayTix, they are also allowing single seat bookings.
Hope that helps someone. I've booked Pretty Woman now, otherwise I'd have gone, but hope to make use of that offer soon.

Probably wise given the current circumstances, they’ve probably just got enough cast, with the off site swings and in house swings, to carry on with the show even if there is another case requiring self isolation.

Out of curiosity, if it were an audience member who later tested positive, would everyone in the house the night they went be notified, or just those seated closest? And would the theater send out any notifications or NHS Test & Trace?

I'm biased as this was the show that made me fall in love with musicals, but after 17 months of no live theatre, I am so, so happy this was my first show back. The atmosphere was electric, the cast were on fire, and it was just an all round joyous experience. You Can't Stop The Beat is my favourite musical theatre number of time, and it made me so happy to see it again, with the original choreography.

I didn’t hear any announcements at all this evening, but I sat down at about 7:15pm so perhaps I missed them. The majority of the balcony audience were sat unmasked which was a shame to see. Besides sitting behind the most obnoxious group of people who chatted and sang along and screamed and shouted anything to try and get attention… This was an absolute blast!! What a great show, I’ve never seen a professional production of it before. There are a lot of highlights but I thought Lizzie Bea was fantastic as was Michael Ball. Marisha Wallace’s voice raised the roof. Apart from the people say behind, the audience were lapping it up and you could see how thrilled the cast were. Loved it! |

An utterly tremendous evening -- it was something else to see Michael Ball sobbing at the curtain call and the audience following suit - tears of joy I might add. Was surprised at the numbers of empty seats in the stalls but those who were there were lapping it up and Ball was in phenomenal form, as were the Tracy and the Seaweed, both of whom were / are amongst the best I have seen, and Les Dennis was wonderfully sweet and funny. We had an understudy for Velma who was no Tracie Bennett (or Michelle Pfeiffer) but was game enough. But the show itself was the star -- sweet, buoyant, and timeless to us (not just, pace the song title, to me) in its absolute insistence on tolerance during ever more intolerant times. Bravo, bravi.
