I'd imagine Frozen will come off in the next year or so, even if the rumours about it closing in January weren't true.
It's still had an incredibly good run for a theatre that size - and looking at seating plans for next couple of weeks it's really not doing that badly.
I hope they find something else for that theatre and I'd love it if there could be another open ended run of a musical. But agree it's vast size probably puts producers off. Would be a shame if it became like the Palladium as, well, we already have the Palladium doing the Palladium. Or worse, just put on limited runs of trash like the Dominion and Dirty Dancing etc.
I guess it's best bet is big revivals! Though as I've alluded to on other threads they do seem to rely on the original audience coming back and often fail to find a new one....
Are there any on the cards? Assume Oliver wouldn't go there again as these days surely will be a DMT theatre.
(If only we could have another 10 year run of Miss Saigon and a John Napier set I say lol).

I think if they're able to cut the capacity of Drury Lane to say 1500-1600, My Neighbour Totoro could have a nice run there. It's not a musical but the scale of it requires a large stage.

Imagine how this is going to be scaled down for the inevitable tour.

Imagine how this is going to be scaled down for the inevitable tour. God yes. And the conversation about what ATG will charge for it can go round again. Great times....

Might be going mad but when the new Drury Lane was unveiled did they say they could stage things in the round there and that the auditorium was adaptable?
Honestly can't see how but maybe the next show could do this as the proverbial/fabled "something different."

Imagine how this is going to be scaled down for the inevitable tour. It shouldn't need to be drastically, it's toured the US well enough. So hopefully they'd just use that set

Yeah there's a pretty good US touring version that will do the rounds (minus the massive bridge and the ice castle is simpler)

I'd throw a guess out there that this will be the last extension, Totoro will go in for six months before it goes to Broadway and then they'll do something fun in the round. Lloyd Webber seems driven to get some Shakespeare on in there.

Apparently Anna Wintour wants to do a British version of the Met Gala and hold it at Drury Lane. Obviously this is only one night but I don't know how much the theatre and its configuration would factor in that.
For drury Lane to sell out Shakespeare it would need some big names, even in a lower capacity.

Unless the Shakespeare stars like...Meryl Streep, I can't see it.

I doubt we'd see Shakespeare at Drury Lane unless it's a very limited run. Totoro to me would do quite well there.

The extension is now on sale and looks like they’re holding off the entirety of the upper and the balcony for now, plus the back few rows of the stalls and dress. That means that there are some very decent seats available for just £30 even on weekends. I’ve just booked G41 in the dress for the final Sunday; if it ends up being closing night then that’s a bargain and if it doesn’t, I’ve still basically got a Band B seat at rush price so can’t complain.

Its a way of filling up/forcing people to buy the more expensive ones. Then if shows prove popular they'll put balcony on sale.

I have no info on what's going on currently - Drury lane is a massive space to fill and is not particularly attractive to producers on the whole I don't think I don't know if there are any plans to bring it over but Hugh Jackman's "The Music Man" would be a filler for a limited run ( although it didn't get particularly good reviews) That would be great. It would sell regardless of reviews

He and Sutton were in discussions to do it elsewhere in London but it fell through (couldn't make the finances work)

I listened to the cast recording of The Music Man and was one of the most boring hours of my life - honestly couldn't see what the fuss was about! Also if you HAVE to have a mega star to sell something does it not beg the question that the piece itself is not that engaging?
I was also absolutely gutted to find out that the iconic "I Am The Music Man" song that they play in all the camp bars in Manchester and drag bars in Gran Canaria (by Black Lace apparently) is not in fact from this musical. Spent my entire life assuming it was!

One of the great classics and the Chichester production is still one of my theatre highlights. Doesn't get done much here sadly.

The music man was one of the most miserable evenings I’ve ever seen in New York. Hugh Jackman was dreadful in it. Though he appeared to very pleased with himself throughout.

Is this show selling well, I'm hearing it's haemorrhaging serious money and that's why it's closing. Within 6 months I believe. Why would they bother recasting Anna and Kristoff in September if it's closing shortly after? There have been no announcements.
