Got a £20 day seat today for the matinee, second row side stalls.
They were "sold out" at first, but I kept trying and more became available.
I've never seen the film, but looking forward to the spectacle of it all, plus seeing inside a theatre which I was last in when the staff were trying desperately to get the audience to leave after extended clapping, crying and multiple standing ovations.

Dynamic pricing. One of them, at least, then went down again to £49.50 and was sold by the time the show started (no idea at what price).
A very good spectacle so far. All the Disney traits you’d expect.

Neither for adults or kids - kids around me were bored in the padded bits that weren't in the film, and their mums (wot, no dads?) sat stuffing their faces with tubs of Yorkshire crisps and big bags of sweets which were presumably to keep the kids happy. Weird cos Disney have a good track record with theatre (Lion King / Mary Poppins). Frozen doesn't cut it for me - left me cold. I'll give the show 18 months maximum and then hopefully this beautiful theatre will get a show worthy of its splendour.

It was. sh*t in Australia |

In all fairness If a kid sees Wicked or Frozen and then wants to see more theatre . Then that is great. The reviews were mostly kind and good. I feel that at least they are trying. I do wonder if MP is better because its not from just animation. Animation is hard because they have to make the fake real. Having said that Sam from a video is on fire.

If people don't like it then fine, but saying it isnt real theatre is just snobbish, elitist and to be honest a bit ridiculous. Theatre is all sorts of things, even the much derived Thriller was theatre. If a theatre is full with people enjoying a live performance then great. And as has been mentioned, a massive venue like Drury Lane being full of kids possibly falling in love with theatre for the first time is critical for theatres survival.

Those kids must get bored really quickly,because the 'padded' bits as you call it, really dont last that long. This is a far better show for Kids than Mary Poppins, which is probably more padded that Frozen, or The Lion King, which apart from the first 10 mins, is boring. I'm surprised anyone could prefer Cinderella over Frozen (based on your reviews) |

I do wonder whether this kind of show is the type that will really get kids into theatre. As good or bad as it might be it’s just another Frozen product to be consumed. Many smaller kids will have little appreciation for the artistry or the technical wizardry taking place, other than to wonder why it doesn’t look like it did in the film. And few will have any appreciation of the amount of money that’s been spent on their seats.
The voracity with which the younger generation gobble up “product” these days astounds me. Yes it might make a long lasting impression on a few but for most it will be “can we go for burgers now Mum?”

Definitely not as kids. |

We’re in the interval now and there is a lot of noise from inappropriately young children. Olaf doesn’t get a number til the end of act one when a rapt hush suddenly descended. They even chattered through ‘Let It Go’. But it certainly isn’t a brain dead panto. There is an awful lot to enjoy and appreciate here. The dress moment was stunning as was the freezing. Nice to see one of the ushers giving Ronaldo a run for his money, pegging it down the wing to stop someone in the front row recording LIG.

I do find it strange that the comments seem to be “Well I don’t like it so I can’t see it lasting very long” with no real evidence or reason as to why the show is gonna flop. It’s ok not to like it but I can’t see where this opinion that it’s gonna close in less than 2 years is coming from. It looks to be selling well at the moment and the general popular opinion about the show is pretty positive.

I enjoyed this yesterday afternoon as well. I think the first half is stronger than the second half, but there's more adult humour in the second half.
Getting a side front seat was a good move. There is a lot of chatter from the children in the audience (not complaining, not unexpected) but you're shielded here from much of it. I found the loud eating more annoying than the talking.
We had two covers on, both making their debut. Matt Gillett as Bishop/Oaken and Chris Fung as King Agnarr. I think they were good, but I've nothing to compare against. Oaken looked like a fun role.
The whole theatre looks stunning from the front of house through to the auditorium. The seats are comfortable with more leg room than I remember. Almost everyone in the audience ignored the announcement to wear a mask completely. We had one use of a camera flash during the show from somewhere behind me.
Funnily enough, this is the third show in the past week where nobody ever checked my ticket. I just got waved in and was then able to get to my seat without showing it. I did have a ticket.
Anyway, this is worth seeing for the spectacle and I'd certainly see it again down the line with day seat pricing. It is perfect for the little princesses in the audience, even if some of them are a bit young to concentrate. It is the right show for getting families back to the theatre. And there's less chance of being sat behind a talk person than at most shows!

Aah so I really, really enjoyed this show. As danb mentioned, it was quite noisy but to be honest, it wasn’t overly distracting. I have been to shows where phone rings, crying babies and adults nattering on have been a lot worse than what I experienced this afternoon. With a room full of young children, I expected it to be worse. As for the actual show, the young Anna and Elsa really are special. They are such balls of energy and are a great way to start the show, I wish them so much luck going forward in their careers. I am a fan of the film and was quite happy with the familiar lines and several nods to the second film (Samantha?) Speaking of Samantha, she was phenomenal and brought me to tears during LIG. I have been a fan of hers for many years but I have never managed to see her before so this was special for me. Steph was just adorable and such a fantastic Anna, I really loved her performance. Oliver Ormson plays a convincing Prince but I felt like his evil reveal seemed a lot more dramatic in the film than on stage. Obiona’s voice is like butter and if I closed my eyes, I swear Craig could have been Josh Gad. Now, the real selling point of this show for me is the set because oh my god, It is spectacularly beautiful. The way the stage lights up when it freezes with Elsa’s magic is just divine. The ice stair case is just a gorgeous sight. This set deserves every single award. I really couldn’t fault it. For those people claiming that it is a shame that TRDL has been reopened with a ‘show like Frozen’ — do us a favour and shut up. This is a gorgeous show which is a great family day out (or a good solo trip.) The cast are fantastic and it is a wonderful spectacle. I hope it fairs better than its Broadway counterpart. 5* from me!! I certainly won't shut up just because I have a different view. Let's see where this show is in 2023 - I don't see it lasting. Short shelf life, little to encourage return visits. As BurlyBear suggested, this might just be a piece of theatre for rapid consumption. Like junk food, I found it unappetising and left me wanting something proper after half an hour. |

Frozen dated quickly as a film and was commercially rinsed - a hugely successful franchise. However, the stage show is emotionally empty. I think Sam Barks is stunning - I love her voice and previous roles. She's excellent in this - I just think she's surrounded by lots of window dressing. |
