I think any ticket over £100 is ridiculous to be honest.
That's why it's good at ATG touring venues, their top price seats for big musicals touring are around £45/£50. I would pay that. £70 for a seat in London is decent and I'll pay it but still overpriced but anything over that I won't. If prices keep rising then when I'm older I probably won't be able to see as many shows as I want to.

Top price during previews is £65 and run is £75 where do these other prices come from. Must be looking at agency websites. The pricing is no different than any other west end musical.

Good luck to 'em. I wont be visiting until it is heavily discounted. I will just be one to tick off the list, no real desire to see it.

No one's forcing anyone to go. (Apart from Parsley and Mark Shenton who've both signed a blood pact to see everything in the Westy Endy).

Was gonna come and stick up for the show as I don't think every revival/new show should have to be commercially appealing in order to be worthy of a West End run but then I saw the prices. Have they learnt nothing from Show Boat? No doubt some of these £75 tickets will be down to £25 by the time they realize their mistake. Beyond me why they don't start at middling prices and wait to see how it does.

10+ group is only £29.50 for top price. Not too bad.

They'll be discounting it like mad. But the damage will already be done and people will have been put off. Absolutely ridiculous. Of course many of us have played out part in this outrage by paying top dollar for other stuff. You can just hear the producers saying (fat cigars hanging out of their lips) "well the suckers paid £150 for Glenn Close so....." Its worse than that. I was talking to one restaurant manager near the Palace and asked if the new Harry Potter nextdoor was boosting sales. The answer was no - the customers for Potter 9 and 10 were going to MacDonalds over the road because they were spent out paying for a family to see two Potter shows . It may be the same with the overpriced shows - for everyone that succeeds in making a sale at about twice the normal rate , some other 4 or 5 star show isn't getting a seat filled.

I actually think Harry Potter prices are more than reasonable given the demand! But when shows that are unlikely to be popular come charging extortionate prices I start to get annoyed.

It's an open run. Well, at those prices it will be a very limited run! They are trying to cast names and I'd fully expect Zeta Jones to be a strong possibility . She'd get punters in and her career is hardly that hot in Hollywood. I think this is a limited run but I'm not 100% sure! As for Poppins, I think that's still got a chance of transferring possibly, from what I've heard, but there's no definite answer so it might not

I always thought they missed a trick not casting CZJ in Sunset Boulevard. If I was her advisor (and I'm probably not) I'd suggest sacking this off. No Norma, no saving ur tits when it's being compped to buggery

We want something new at the Drury Lane. I live in N.Y.C and love new shows but with all these New York shows playing I don't want to travel over to see the same stuff I can see here.Granted they are hits.Where have all the talented composers gone...all to grave yards one by one.

If I lived in NYC I'd never come over here to see musicals to be honest. 95% of the quality musicals are ones from America. We surely must have the talent so I'm unsure as to where the originality has gone.

Erm Chitty opened here before anywhere else..no? I know that Jeremy Sams crafted the stage show but it's based on an American movie musical isn't it? I'm still reeling from having sat through it yesterday, and the Sherman Brothers were very convincing as Americans ignorant of this side of the Atlantic, so I apologise if they are actually British, and feel very sorry for their acquaintances.

Yep true, we have a dearth of original musicals of any quality coming from London. I'd rather have more crap ones if it meant we got a couple of good ones a year too though!

British musical film... script by Roald Dahl and Ken Hughes, but the Sherman brothers are indeed American.

I'm pretty sure Wicked was in the £70 ballpark. They are in a different category really though. The majority of musicals at ATG venues come in between £40 to £50 top price, plus the half price opening night for most with an ATG card. I'm sure George wasn't referring to those shows when he made his comment, more like the hundreds of other musical shows touring.
