Does anyone know what is the maximum size bag that can be taken into the auditorium? I can't find anything on the website.

Ok, thank you. 😀 I'd forgotten about the cloakroom actually.

Apparently the show is touring at the end of next year. That would make sense. If the £35m renovation of the theatre is approved, I believe that an article somewhere said that it would start 2019 at the earliest. I don't see any sense in closing 42nd Street any time before that as the theatre would either be darker for longer or there'd be a very limited run of something, and I don't see TRDL as a filler theatre, somehow... So if they can keep 42nd Street running until renovation work needs to start, touring would be a good idea as it will have closed in London due to works, not ticket sales and they can at least sell it that way...!

I imagine it depends when they want the theatre to be reopened, I imagine if they get Frozen or another show, they'll probably want to open it for March-May 2020 which would fit into the timescale if it 42nd Street were to close between September 2018 to Janaury 2019 since the refurb is to take eighteen months.

🎉🎉🎉🎉 So much for all the five star reviews AAIP received That they ever tried to compete with 42nd Street Which they blatantly did Is too funny

Let's face it though Parsley, you probably would've got a better return on your investment if you'd put money into An American In Paris rather than Bend It.

Mind you, that at the same time the row AA dropped to £65 from £75.

I know it's far in advance to be asking this question, but do we think it'll extend again or is the 20th of October likely to be closing day so that they can start the renovation? I'd really love to be at the very last show because I can't imagine how electric the atmosphere will be, but at the moment I'm seeing the Wicked tour in southampton on the 20th of October!

I think it's actually a bit depressing. This show has had numerous revivals including Chichester a few years ago. It's a dated musical and it just about sums up the ambition of British musical theatre today. Sigh. It’s not that depressing now As it’s probably The most spectacular show in town And has had repeat viewings From many of the forum members With probably the best dancing On stage Anywhere

How can something that fills so many with joy after watching be depressing.
We all haven't seen the 73628483 versions that may have come before. I've seen none. I'd not seen the film either but I bought it after seeing his show.
Not seen many shows with as good word of mouth as this one. Hope it runs and runs.

I imagine that October date will be the final performance. A shame if it does close then, but least it gives a year to see it as many times as we want!

I just bought A0 for the evening performance on 20 October 2018 and it was the last of the now £25 seats in Row A. So all I've got to do now is to stay alive, mobile and not go gaga to see 'Company' on 18 October 2018 and '42nd Street' on 20 October 2018, by which time I will be 81. Yippee!

I'll be straight round to bring you a cardigan and some Werther's Originals on October 21st 2018 to celebrate. Seriously dahling, if I'm even half as compos mentis when I reach um, half your age..... I'll be a happy girl.....👏👊

I think it may need more than some Werther's Originals for me to complete that journey! Sorry to go off thread but one does ramble when one gets old!

Good for you tonyloco ! I wouldn't dare book that far ahead - I'm originally from Yorkshire and would hate to think I had lost that money when I was dead! I'd haunt the empty seat! So these days I tend to book on the day of the show - day seats, lotteries, rush tickets and returns!

I turned up at the box office less than 15 mins before the matinee today & got stalls B0 for £15. Not quite as good a view as A0, as I had a tall chap in front, but more leg room. The balcony looked closed but the other 3 levels seemed to be quite full. I spent some time appreciating the boxes, before we lose some of them in the refurbishment.
Martin McCarthy was on as Andy Lee, which I was pleased to see as I liked him in Top Hat, & also had to be in the ensemble in some of the group numbers as they're a bit short on people. Apparently there's a nasty cold making its was round the company, as well as the usual injuries & holiday. Otherwise all the main leads were on.
The show still doesn't satisfy me plot-wise but I didn't want anything demanding today (& had lost the Young Frankenstein lottery so needed to fill a show slot) & you can pretty much turn off your brain & just appreciate the songs, dancing & costumes. I think one of the best bits is how much the MD looks like he's enjoying himself when his podium rises up in the overture & entr'acte!
