Ooo I'm glad they are doing Open Auditions as opposed to just people who have previous experience or know the right people! Also nice to see that they are auditioning for a new cast, giving hope it will last at least another year.  I imagine it'll probably do another 6-12 months unless a show is interested in Drury Lane to open in 2018. |

I imagine it'll probably do another 6-12 months unless a show is interested in Drury Lane to open in 2018. See I think it will run until a show wants it, unless it is dire which it isn't as of yet. I'd be surprised to see it close before the Oliviers next year. Even though they don't provide much of a boom at the box office as the Tonys do, it is still great for promo, especially when I'd be surprised if it didn't get multiple nominations and it is pretty much locked for a couple of them. |

In the West End today and having nothing better to do I snagged a front row day seat for this fabulous show. I had seen the very first preview which was quite a while ago so it was great to see it again and this time, serendipitously, life imitated art and I got the understudy for Peggy Sawyer - Gabrielle Lewis-Dodson - who, in the spirit of the show, was sensational. What an amazing way to spend a Wednesday afternoon. The joys of London!

Saw this last night and was very impressed by everything - the quality of the dancing was superb as well as the singing and acting. Obviously British musical theatre is full of triple threats nowadays and what a joy! I remember seeing this many years ago but with a very lacklustre cast. Sheena Easton was a nice surprise as well and added to the enjoyment of a wonderful evening.I sat in stalls A23 and my partner in A24. Admittedly the seats lacked a little legroom but the view and of course the price (15 pounds) certainly compensated for that. Thankyou to the Monkey and others who gave me good advice on here after booking the seats and seeing the dreaded words - "limited legroom".

Other than the fact that I was ill-prepared for this visit and in a general state of chaos and confusion, I really have no other explanation as to why I didn't put this show near the top of my to-see list. But once again, your wonderful site has come to my rescue. I adored this production. If I could, I'd go and see it every week. There are few things in life I love as much as good tap-dancing. Such a wonderful, joyous evening. Thanks once more! |

I'm almost in the process of doing just that – seeing 42nd Street once a week from the £15 seats in A row. I have seen it six times now and I am booked for two more visits on September 25 and October 2. It gets better and better, even when there are covers on, and my only problem is that I can't get the songs out of my head on the days in between visits. I wish all my problems were as tough as that! |

I've been Boring for England about it to two of of my friends and have said I will never speak to them again if they don't see it soon. Really there's no excuse with great deals on todaytix. When I saw it for the first time I only paid £25 for a great seat and I said to the nice family next to me that I actually felt guilty to get so much pleasure, for so little money.

It automatically redirects to seetickets which says 'sorry there are no shows for 42nd street right now#.
Is anyone else seeing this? I need my £15 AA fix!

I've just looked via 42ndstreetmusical.co.uk, and everything appears to be fine, though the booking part of the website has changed slightly.
If anybody wants everyone's favourite A row seats for 1 February 2018, they're (currently) still available.

We went on Friday night, stalls A0 and A1 and were really surprised how much leg room there actually was (thank you theatremonkey). Like 99.9% of everyone on here, we just loved it from start to finish, the best show I've seen in absolutely ages. I was buzzing when I came out, the costumes, dancing, singing, in fact everything about it was superb. Just wish I lived in London so I could see it more often.

Really Useful are in the process of migrating to a new ticketing system so it could be a broken link that's giving you issues - I've just been in through reallyusefultheatres.co.uk and it seems to be playing ball for me. |

I took my 70 year old mum to see this last week and we both adored it, it definitely has something for everyone. We got a great deal on SeeTickets for rear stalls and a 2 course dinner for £35, since the seats themselves were £35 we effectively got the dinner for free. The seats were all empty around us so we had loads of room to stretch out and a completely unobstructed view.

There were a couple of choices of restaurants but we went for Planet Hollywood, so it was just your usual all American burger type thing. Very nice since it was free.  |

Anyone know what's going on at the theatre today? There are about 6 huge trucks with very electrical looking things, and cables going in through the stage door. I overheard something about the revolve, but I didn't get it all?

Thoroughly enjoyed my second visit to 42nd Street this afternoon. Didn't notice any problems with the revolve unless it was meant to be used for a number other than the one with the mirror?

This probably gives it the award for the most underused revolve in the WE at the moment - it should have a word with its agent. The award for the MOST used goes to the one in Follies which never stops all night!

I've seen 42nd Street six times but always from the front stalls and I cannot recall the revolve being used anywhere else but in the mirror number. I suspect that the director might have been tempted to use it in 'Getting out of town' as well but I think the company walking around the stage carrying their suitcases is actually more effective. The overuse of the revolve in Follies is ridiculous. It's exhausting for the audience just to watch so imagine how the cast must feel! |

I know this is off topic for the 42nd St thread (so shoot me!) but I did fear for the safety of the actors in Follies at times at an early preview. Stepping on and off that moving revolve looked lethal - I especially feared for Josephine Barstow at 76! She was made to walk down a fire escape too - god help her! |

The revolve is used to move the white piano from the back to the front of the stage. Also they are filming the michael macintyre tv show again on Sundays. Which accounts for the trucks and wires.
