For anybody who is interested, I saw 42nd Street for the fourth time last night. I was in A1 and I put my Canadian cousin in A23 because you get a better view of the show overall from A23 than from A1. Clare Halse was off and replaced by Gabrielle Lewis-Dodson, and Tom Lister was off and replaced by Norman Bowman. Both the covers were brilliant and I actually felt that Gabrielle made a slightly more convincing star of 'Pretty Lady' than Clare, who remained a little bit 'Allentown' even after her triumph, but there was nothing to choose between then in singing and dancing. I certainly didn't feel I was missing anything with the covers though I had seen Clare and Tom three times before. As tmesis has recently pointed out, everything about the show is top class and I would love everybody in the world to get as much pleasure out of seeing it as I continue to do. Sadly, the balcony was closed and I could see a lot of empty seats at the back and sides of the stalls, although I guess for a Monday night that is understandable. I also gather that they had been selling some very good seats for £15 on the day. PS. I may be imagining it but I felt Sheena Easton's performance has slightly strengthened, the orchestra continues to sound sensational and Jae Alexander's conducting remains inspired.

Revisited this for only the second time today, but a huge thank you to whoever it was that gave the heads up for the £15 tickets at the ends of the front row. Incredible to be in such close proximity to those dancing feet. I have just booked again!

I was back for my monthly 'fix' tonight and my first occupation of the wonderful A1... may have to try A23 sometime just to shake things up a bit but I cannot imagine a better use for £15 anywhere in London (my imagination may be somewhat limited in this regard).
Delighted to find the show has lost none of its wow factor despite repeated viewings and really enjoyed Norman Bowman's Julian. Next visit September, towards the end of a two week holiday - will be interesting to see whether the 'escape ecstasy' is as potent when I'm less stressed out!

Hey guys, I am contemplating seeing the show at the end of September, Wednesday matinee before I leave London and was wondering how good the show is. I don't mind paying full price for front row (there are some tickets available). Is it amazing?

If you have a look at a sample of some of the comments (don't do all 100 pages) you will see that most of us absolutely love this show and quite a few have seen it several times. It's the most spectacular fun and camp show in London. Check around for offers though but the front row is amazing. We have all sat there in the past few months.

Any particular place to look for deals (apart from TodayTix)? I don't have much flexibility, it has to be Wednesday matinee, and I wouldn't like to miss the opportunity...

TKTS in Leicester Square but that's more for last minute availability. If you want the front row you will probably need to book in advance. The 1st and last seat in the front row are £15 if available but very limited legroom. If you want to sit at the front and happy to pay full price then I would say go ahead and grab the seats.

Digging around in my programme collection this morning I found my programme from 1985 which cost the grand sum of 50p. Frankie Vaughan played Julian Marsh and Shani Wallis was Dorothy Brock. Barbara King was Peggy Sawyer. Also in the programme was a feature on a day in the life of Jack Tinker, and advert for Cinderella at the Palladium starring Des O'Connor, Paul Nicholas, John Junkin and guest star Anna Neagle as Fairy Godmother. An advert for Barnum at the Victoria Palace Theatre with Michael Crawford, Peter Pan at the Aldwych with Bonnie Langford, Daisy Pulls it Off at the Globe and the NT production of Guys and Dolls at the Price of Wales starring Lulu? ?

That's the cast I saw. My first West End musical. I've adored Barbara King ever since. My programme has advertisements for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at the Prince of Wales, Charlie Girl at the Victoria Palace, Lend Me a Tenor at the Globe, La Cage aux Folles at the Palladium, A Chorus of Disapproval at the Lyric, and The Mousetrap at St Martin's in its "34th year". Loads of advertisements for restaurants, and an advertisement for cigarettes on the back because they could do that then.

In two minds about this - I'm a sucker for camp but didn't take it all to Guys and Dolls last year. Should I book?

In two minds about this - I'm a sucker for camp but didn't take it all to Guys and Dolls last year. Should I book? Which cast did you see in Guys and Dolls. Because I was bored stiff the first time I saw it at the Savoy, I thought Jamie Parker was the only redeeming quality. But then I saw it at the Phoenix with Rebel, Simon and Oliver and I thought it was fantastic!
That said, do not miss 42nd Street, it is two of the best nights (I have seen it twice!) that I have spent in the theatre this year! For the staging alone, its stunning!

Of course you should book. 101 pages talking about it on here and most of us loved it. Trust the experts 😁

Saw the Phoenix cast but not Rebel Wilson (think it was Sam Spiro). Thought it was quite low-rent. Yep I suppose I can't complain at £15 - anyone know how long I've got to see Sheena?

It's a dazzling show, it really is fantastic, you have no reason to worry. Sheena is scheduled to be there for a year, so expect her to leave by March unless she decides to extend. In the case of her leaving, fully expecting some star casting for an older actress, possibly to make another comeback.

Sheena isn't particularly exciting. Plus in the second act she is rarely in it at all.
The stars of this one are the ensemble. They are astonishingly brilliant.

To all the 42nd street fans on here, who's the stand out member of the ensemble to you? Need some ensemble members to watch out for! Personally I'm excited to see Ella Martine as Lorraine as I've seen her dance before and loved her!

Personally I'm excited to see Ella Martine as Lorraine as I've seen her dance before and loved her! For me it is Sam Murphy! Always a joy to watch on stage. He is in the Opening Number, standing right next to the choreographer guy centre stage, in the white vest. Not only is he good looking, he is always in character, full of charisma and a great dancer. My eyes immediately draw to him, even when he is in a generic costume with the other guys. He's gonna be one to look out for not just in this, but also in the future I think.
