Does anyone know over how many performances they shot this. There are glorious full stage shots, and plenty of close up where the cameras would have been seen in the wide shots. I suggest two, maybe three performances, but it is seamlessly put together. Utter joy.

I can't properly remember any more but it was definitely two actual performances (plus they rehearsed with cameras in place during the show on the Friday before filming) and I think two days. One day to get additional coverage for act 1, and the other for act 2. The work during the days would have been pick ups for anything they didn't get properly during the shows and shots with cranes and other angles where the camera couldn't be during a performance. Most of the close-ups would have been done during the actual performances, they are all on zoom lenses so close-ups are easy.

Going to see this at Leeds this afternoon. Can’t believe how excited I feel about this. Hoping that at least some of the joy that we all felt at the theatre translates to the screen!

Most cinemas have this on again this coming Tuesday but some Vues also have an afternoon and evening showing on the 25th November so worth checking.

Yes, we have a Tuesday night showing so will go then rather than rushing straight from work today. We all need a bit of joy atm and this is the answer.

I’ve booked this afternoon with a view to going again on Tuesday - my local theatre also has a showing in December which I’ve already booked - wondering if seeing the film 3times is a bit OTT 🤔

Had almost forgotten what an amazing show this is - confess I shed a tear at the ‘staircase’ scene - quite possibly my favourite scene in any musical. Applause from the cinema goers as well - assume everyone had a 10minute interval?

But why were the principals feet cut out of the frame when they were down stage?? It’s a dance show and we couldn’t see their feet!

Am in the screen ready for it to start - this has completely sold out one of the biggest screens in the cinema (about 250 seats) which rarely happens. I’m glad to hear other people have enjoyed it and that it’s transferred well to screen as I loved it in London.

Saw the screening this afternoon and it was brilliant! So well filmed and great to see such a large cast filling that stage. Loved the mirror dancing sequence. Almost full at our cinema with a showing on Tuesday too.

So lucky those of you who had full cinemas to see this, helps create an atmosphere. I am afraid there were a measley 11 people at my cinema in East London which is such a shame. It was really well filmed though I would have liked a few more close ups especially of the boys and girls in the ensemble.
Great to see Philip as Billy Lawler. I never got to see him in the west end, only Stuart and Ashley. He was excellent as I knew he would be.
Had a bit of a cry as soon as I knew the staircase was about to appear and again at the encore.
But it cant replace being there especially all those times in the front row and the costumes are so more colourful when seeing it live.
Funny thing was I actually paid more to see this in the cinema than I paid many times at the theatre- ah those £15 front row seats!!!!
Plus the legroom in the cinema was awful, actually worse than most theatres in London and it was freezing.
Lets hope there is a DVD release and I can just have the staircase scene on a loop all the time.
Those of you going on Tuesday are in for a treat.

Absolutely sensational screening this afternoon.
A pure reminder of the vast scale and size of this show as well as the amount of talent of everybody in the production.
Was really nice to see a member of the ensemble a few rows in front of us watching it also.

What a fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon. It was a joy from start to finish. The sets were spectacular and the costumes were so colourful. The whole cast were wonderful and everyone gave their all. So thankful that it was made for the big screen. It was definitely worth waiting for.

Wow, loved it so much. For me this was a perfect way to spend an afternoon in the cinema, as indeed it was spending the evening in the theatre when we saw this magnificent production in London. Wonderfully filmed and a pure joy. And boy did I have a few emotional moments!
And great to have the audience at our packed cinema so up for it, too. And as bonus, with the age demographic on our cinema, I felt so young: almost fooled myself into being a twink again - well, overlooking 30-odd years!

Really enjoyed seeing this this afternoon, it was good getting to see it again and it made me miss the days of popping to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane to get a day seat and then watching the show if I was in the mood. Very glad it was filmed and people who weren't able to see it in London have had the chance now.
I'm very picky about the editing of shows and this one wasn't too bad compared to some I have seen. However, I wasn't keen on any of the shots where the camera was obviously on the stage. I have no problem with crane shots which obviously you can't do with an audience in but some of the steadicam shots did throw me out of it a little. I feel like anything that is within the proscenium arch is odd but maybe that's just because I am used to being an audience member.
Something that I thought was a shame was the amount of people that came late. I wish that cinemas would make it clear when showing theatre productions that there aren't going to be 20 minutes of trailers and it will actually start at the given time. There were people continuously wandering in for the first 20 minutes which was very distracting.
