Will this production tour the uk ? I'm sure someone earlier in the thread said that sets had been designed to tour. I'd be shocked if it doesn't tour once it closes in London (rumoured to be early next year when the threatre refurb happens).

I am sorry - I just lost all respect for the Olivier Awards. How the hell can they give Hamilton best choreography over 42nd Street? Probably the same reaso Clare was not nominated and they gave Jibson it for a total of 8 minutes on stage!! I am so 😡

I personally don’t think Clare was a stand-out winner but it’s ludicrous she didn’t get a nomination. I also didn’t love Jibson in Hamilton!

Probably the same reaso Clare was not nominated and they gave Jibson it for a total of 8 minutes on stage!! I am so 😡 Because the choreography in Hamilton is also fantastic and different. 42nd Street is excellent but not very original, and the performance last night was a little disappointing compared to the flair it had when it first opened. And Clare Halse would not have been in the same category as Michael Jibson so I don't understand the comparison there - there isn't one. She would have been in the Best Actress or Best Supporting Actress category and wouldn't have stood a chance in either against the thoroughly deserving Henderson and Atim. Did she deserve a nomination? Yes, absolutely in my opinion - she should have filled Lesley Joseph's spot at least. But was she ever going to win? No, not even if Hamilton hadn't been eligible this year, so anger at Hamilton is misplaced entirely in my opinion.

I completely agree she wouldn't of won but her not being nominated is a joke and is my main takeaway of this year.
I think the issue with choreography is simple. Fluid and continuous movement throughout you go with Hamilton. Big, flashy numbers you go with 42nd Street. The former prevailed. But if Hamilton wasn't this year, unquestionably it would of won.
But the real joke is Follies winning Costume Design when it was the weakest of the four nominees. Thats a real joke. But I suppose they had to give it something else than just Revival.

Sorry Dan, but I'm well on board with Follies winning for costume from the get go. The Follies 'younger' girls costumes are magnificent, and I felt it was a real visual treat. As much as I loved 42nd Street - I thought follies had the better costumes.

For me personally, no show other than 42nd Street stood out costume-wise this whole year. But I agree, the showgirls outfits were great. In truth it became very clear as soon as nominations were announced the people who vote for these things just weren't a fan of this show, and again thats fine. Its clearly won over audiences with so many return visitors and winning the most awards at this years Whatsonstage Awards which were voted by those seeing the show. People can bitch and moan about them discounting tickets here and there, but its still packing them in on the weekends and considering it was originally meant to just be a limited run and now has become what it has, these awards don't really matter for i0this show really.

I tell you what else ticks me off. I get that the current cast are the current cast etc, but the Original Ensemble are one of the main reasons for the success of this production, yet they weren't even invited to go with the cast for the Oliviers. Its annoying too because the current Ensemble don't even match them, and have been there only three weeks whilst the Originals work their ass off for a year and don't get a moment like that.

never been less interested in these awards, too much Hamilton, no nomination for Clare who is a stand out and without the Covent Garden performances and the public award it lost lots of charm

They're not going to invite old cast members over new, that would be strange. In most TV appearances the past year it's been the ensemble and Clare (with Tom singing a line or two beforehand), so it was nice to see Ashley on, albeit briefly.

Because they have moved on for a reason...I’m pretty sure that if they had wanted to stay on with the cast they could have. We might get precious about it, but for all we know it might have been hell! They would only have been paid scale with such a large cast, and working harder than anyone could ever possibly imagine for 24 hours a week. It has to take it’s toll.

This might be a hard question to answer...my daughter sat transfixed through Lion King and Aladdin, and got a bit scared in Pinocchio. How family friendly is this? I think she might love the dancing, but how much story is there between songs?

There is no strong language, a little bit of sexual innuendo but the kids will not pick up on that. It's a amazing show, I imagine for the pure dazzle and magic kids will love it. It's not complex or anything, or something to really confuse them hahaha.

I've seen quite young children (probably aged 3 or 4) sitting central row A, so in full view of everyone, and they too were transfixed. But, and this may, or may not, have been the reason, their uncle was one of the boys in the chorus.

My almost four year old has now watched the clip from the Oliviers five times, and everything else on YouTube. She is currently trying to tap dance round the kitchen island. I think a booking for this before the end of half term is inevitable!

As I mentioned a few weeks ago. 5 or 6 year old girl sat next to me in row A. She absolutely loved it and was transfixed. Mind you here tap teacher was in it. But if kids like dancing I think they will totally love it. And they do booster cushions. Sit kids as near to the front as you can for effect.

I’m gonna go against the crowd (not the first time in my life) and day that Lulu wasn’t bad. She’s just entirely wrong for Dorothy. She would be great in pantomime!

The more I think about her performance, the more I enjoyed it. I thought she was delightful, and Quarter to Nine with Clare just makes me smile the way Lulu did it.

I've booked to see this again soon.
If Lulu doesn't sing Relight My Fire I will be requesting a refund.
