The TodayTix email from this morning claims to have tickets discounted 47% to £27.50. I can only currently see them at full price, but maybe they'll randomly reappear at some point today. Might be an option for anyone looking for a discount, rather than going for the restricted view.

On the train home now and I really loved this. I didn't think the set was too cumbersome, barely any noise except sometimes the squeak of a wheel and I also enjoyed the projections. The view from the seats was mostly fine though the further in one was better (and luckily we were shifted up a seat or so as some people in our row didn't arrive), you only miss the centre projections really and a very very brief moment at the end before the cast moves forward slightly literally seconds later. Only other annoyance I'd that they don't have a door so the light from the corridor outside the entrance which you are right next to is a little distracting and caused my eyes to water in combination with the stage lights. In terms of the actual show I really loved it and although Edward Baker-Duly had a few bum notes and couldn't belt the highest one in It All Fades away I thought his acting was good enough and his singing was decent in every other circumstance. The real star is definitely Jenna Russell though and boy what a star she is. Just incredible acting that built and built and moved me to tears by the end (and I mean the very end, I think I only started crying once the applause began). However I definitely recognise this will not at all be everyone's cup of tea and I only loved it because I'm a big sap (and also because I knew and loved the score as with everything I've heard by JRB) and I think deep down in my soul I know I'm actually a dissatisfied housewife waiting for a charming man to land on my doorstep and sweep me off my feet so it obviously struck a chord with me haha.

Jenna is insane. Really rooted emotional performance and at the bows she had tissues because she was crying!

DrTom,I too saw the discounted tickets this morning and I always foolishly think that this will mean it is a discount across the board on various dates but often it is a very limited offer with this site.My other problem is that if you do get offered the discounted seats,THEY choose the seats for you and as far as I know you cannot alter their choices yourself.

Got a TodayTix last minute solo ticket for this for last night whilst the fam were at SIX. Wow! My new favourite thing by a country mile...the two leads sang beautifully and their acting together was sublime...they seemed really comfortable together on stage with each other and I really believed in their story together(the repressed farmers’ wife meets the adventurous traveller and emotions stir). Loved the use of projections,lovely set with two revolves and very authentic props,excellent supporting cast and a big thumbs up for Nunn’s direction.He never rushes anything and really lets the actors ’breathe’ in their roles.As a masterclass of truly great acting in MT,this is perfection. Instant standing ovation and very well deserved. What a score! Beautifully orchestrated.Trying to buy a version of the music today. This MUST transfer! I say again...This MUST transfer!

I'm pleased to see this is now getting a much more positive reaction from most people who have seen it. I absolutely loved it and thought it a triumph both acting/singingwise and also the production/design. The earlier negative reactions baffled me somewhat.

As the final show of my London theatre weekend, what a great way to the weekend. An absolutely stunning musical both in its staging and musical score. Jenna Russell (who I’m a big fan of) was just fantastic and combing with Edward Baker-Duly was a winning combination for me. Their rendition of One second and a million miles was just sublime. Can we please have a cast recording for this production. There were more than a few tears shed during the afternoon.
The use of projections was really effective in setting each of the scenes and the orchestra was just top class this afternoon.
A great supporting cast along with the two leads, though Gillian Kirkpatrick as Marge really brought a nice bit of comedy to proceedings,

Just to give a warning: I had a C31 seat and it was THE WORST. Not because of the actual restriction - the column blocked maybe just 2 square metres of stage. But these were the very couple of metres the director decided to stage 3 number on! Like, solo number. Nothing on stage. And the hero stand RIGHT THERE for the whole number. WHY?! Duet number. Again right there. The saddest scene when they go for ice-cream and Francesca sees Robert. Again he stands right there where I and people behind me couldn't see him at all! I really hated the director for that. This was not because of the set, but just because he decided to make my restricted seat totally worthless. And I didn't like the show because of that. I have seat D31 and I also read somewhere else that this was not a good seat for this show. Just phoned the box office and there was no problem to change my seat with no fee. Not much choice left to choose from unless I wanted to upgrade so have taken the advise from comments on the forum and have gone for D47. I need to sit on the isle so that makes it even more restrictive.

E46 was ok so D47 should be fairly similar. I think I only missed some projections which didn't bother me. Certainly the performers weren't obscured at any point.

Saw this on Tues, superb production and Jenna was, as ever IMHO sublime. I had no issue with the difference between her singing and that of Keli, I am sure Jenna acted it better. No problems either with EDB, he was spot on and was totally believable. Ambitious set too for the Menier, even a portion of a covered bridge appeared. Very moving ending and beautifully lit. My only gripe is Sir Trevor's lack of concern for sightlines. I was on A13 and couldn't see any of the SL telephone conversations unless I hurt my neck looking round. The seats are not sold as restricted view and when I pointed this out to BO at intermission was told "you can see the stage, it's in front of you" as if that wasn't obvious. Sir T really should go see Queen of the Mist for a lesson in how to direct to a non proscenium audience, which was, BTW, really good and at no time did you feel you missed anything. But I gripe, glad to have seen this and especially Jenna

I'm lovely. 😁 I would never decry an usher! Their patience is often overwhelming when I would just be telling people they are stupid!
It's funny I was reminded of this in a thread the other week about disabled seating. The Menier was the only theatre in 10 years of buying access tickets that I encountered attitude, rudeness and sarcasm from box office staff. In a different frame of mind I would have reported the member of staff and had them sacked if I had any control.
It was another mark against this theatre which is monstrously uncomfortable, overpriced and a death trap to exit from. The fact that even the gorgeous Aaron Tveit could not get me to buy a ticket should say enough. It takes a lot to get me to go there, but they are quite successful and not hurting from my boycott so everyone wins.

Went back tonight. I'd bought a restricted view ticket as a backup in case work got in the way of the first one, ended up not returning it or giving it away because I fancied seeing it again. D31 was a bit pillary but you get away with it in the first act and I moved to a better seat for the second.
Both the leads are a lot more confident in the roles and in the score, I was much more comfortable listening to them now and had a great time as a result. "One Second and A Million Miles" really kicked along and the last couple of songs I felt deeply. During the rewatch, I think the first act ends up being too long and lacks a bit of drama. I get what people are saying about there being about 5 endings, I think this would feel like less of an issue if it weren't 10.35pm when they start happening. There's plenty in there to cut I thought.
Still a great show, Jenna Russell at the end was absolutely stunning.

Saw this on Friday night. I originally had seat D31 then telephonically changed to D47 after reading the not so good comments about this seat. After arriving I checked availabilty for the show on my phone and although Row D was full row E behind had 6 empty seats including E47. So asked if I could change to E47 so not to be too cramped. I was then offered an upgrade to the more expensive seats in Row E but stuck with E47 to be on the end and as hoped everyone shuffled up so had a seat anyway with no restriction. All I can say is that I experienced wonderful helpful staff where nothing was a problem and not a hint of rudeness.
This show has had so many mixed reviews so I went with a totally open mind. I thoroughly enjoyed it and loved the score. I could certainly feel the connection between Jenna and Edward Baker-Duly and found it quite touching and moving. Both sang so well but Jenna was exceptional. The scene where they go for ice cream and she sees him was beautifully done amd you could feel the raw emotion. We had no clanking of the set and I thought the projections certainly worked with the intimacy of the space.
The theatre was mostly full except for the row I was in. I did notice a woman in the front row asleep for most of the show. Goodness how off putting for the cast. I felt like going over and giving her a nudge. Only a handful of people gave a standing ovation.
