Is this still a hot ticket? My daughter wants to see it,but the last time I looked the ticket prices would have saved a small country from financial bankruptcy Not as hot as they used to be but still selling well. TodayTix are doing Rush tickets which are £25. Anytime I’ve looked, I’ve only managed to get back of Grand Circle on these, so never bothered, or, you can get £35 tickets here: tinathemusical.com/uk/thirtyfive/Thank you so much for the link! Do you know where the £35 seats are in the theatre?

Nkeki was announced as Adrienne’s “at certain performances” for the Broadway run.
I wonder who will be the new London Tina?

Are they doing any offers to get bums on seats? It’s looking like a lot of tickets still to shift this week, and I’m hoping to go on Thursday night.
I know they do TodayTix, but these always seems to be in the Upper Circle. Just wondered if they do last minute discounts if you call to the Box Office on the day?

Saw this for a second time today. I enjoyed the first time but wasn’t blown away apart from Adrienne’s powerhouse performance however thought it would be good choice for my best pal and his mum, who are non theatregoers. We had front row stalls this time and wow, that is one immersive experience. I hadn’t realised that so many of the dialogue scenes are played right at the front of the stage so the one disadvantage is neck crick when looking up at the actors immediately above. But that’s more than made up for by the dynamism of the musical numbers when they’re happening a couple of feet away from you. Even though Nkeki doesn’t “channel” Tina’s voice in the same way that AW did, she certainly has those moves down and her acting was fantastic. All in all a brill afternoon and my guests absolutely loved it. If you get the chance to do the front row, grab it. .

At tonight’s show with fam and Nkeki was replaced by Aisha about twenty minutes in due to ‘indisposition’...still a fabulous show after seeing it with original cast and packed to the rafters.

I got end of the 2nd row in the stalls with a perfect view last week. Enjoy, but watch out for the groups of women on boozy nights out and sing along all the way through.

Surely it can't be any worse than the audience at the Motown tour in Dublin. Yikes. I'll report back. Looking forward to it!

I was at a Sat mat the other week and the audience in the stalls was fine. There’s a very clear announcement before curtain up about singing not being allowed until the end.

The ladies behind me when I saw it heard the announcement and laughed at it claiming they’d be dancing and singing in the aisles.

Cancelled last night and both shows today as they don't have a healthy Tina to hand.

Saw this Tuesday night thanks to the 35 pound tickets online. Ended up seated in the second row - excellent view, stage is not too high and I didn't miss anything! I should preface by saying I've only ever enjoyed one jukebox musical (Moulin Rouge) but am a huge fan of Tina and her story so decided to add it to my list. It's a strange one. (Spoilers below!!)
The biggest disappointment for me was the book. I'm a big Katori Hall fan and thought as soon as she was announced as the book writer, the show would be full of depth and wouldn't shy away from dealing with the toughest parts of Tina's life. Alas... ! I sort of feel I shouldn't compare the show to "What's Love Got to Do With It?" as they're both separate adaptations but what the film did so well was made you believe Ike could have killed Tina at any moment. In the show, I didn't really get that. Ike certainly didn't come across as a sympathetic character but there moments I felt the stage fighting was quite, well, pathetic. There's one particular scene in "What's Love.." that showed the intensity and complexity of Ike and Tina's relationship - the "eat the cake, Anna Mae" scene. Well that one scene on film captured what "Tina" failed to do in almost three hours on stage. I understand it's impossible to dig into every part of a persons life in a musical but I really feel the show would have benefitted from focusing more one one aspect of Tina's life as opposed to trying to cram it all in - Tina's relationship with Zelma alone could have been a musical all in itself.
I was also disappointed in the direction of the show. There were so many moments that I thought to myself "....what??" such as Ike's ex-lover running on stage, shooting herself and dashing off again, all in the space of maybe two seconds. Other moments felt very amateurish, like something from a school musical like the ensemble coming up through the audience with lanterns to join Tina in singing "we don't need another hero".
Overall, the cast was good. Tsemaye Bob-Egbe was on as Tina (her debut as the alternate, I believe) and was good but of course, given it was her first night, she'll improve. Madeline Appiah as Zelma was a standout for me and a dead ringer for Viola Davis!
I don't mean to sound so negative because truly, I was never bored. I'm glad I show the show, especially for just 35 pounds but I think if I was to introduce somebody to Tina Turner, I'd much quicker suggest they watch "What's Love Got To Do With It?"
