Another film I’ve never seen. What’s it about, and is this another show that’s aimed at the teenage market?

Pretty surprised about the positivity about the show here. It’s a fun show, but not very good by any stretch- to me, at least. I’m interested to see the casting for this, though.

It's a show for the tweens that scream along to every performance, like Heathers and Wicked.

She who shall not be named, was too old to be a student in Heathers, let alone as a student in 2020.
So quite probably!

Sunday in the Park ends in September 2020 so there's going to be a bit of gap if Mean Girls opens in December 2020, unless it's previewing in November, either that or the Savoy is getting a refurb between shows.

It's a show for the tweens that scream along to every performance, like Heathers and Wicked. My God, spare us! This would make it one to avoid. The CD is lightly enjoyable. And typical of the current trend of American 'musicals' with ok-ish not unpleasant but all rather unremarkable music. They can put that on the posters. Hmmmm. I would probably go on a deal at a safe distance from the day seats.

Personally I quite like the music, especially Regina's two big songs. They'll need someone with a big voice to pull them off. I love the film so I'm keen to see this. No preferences for cast at this point.

My other half is a big fan of the soundtrack, but I reckon only about 20% of the music is any good. I'd be happier to see Legally Blonde return...

I wouldn’t write this show off based on the recording. I was meh about it until I saw the actual show and it’s a great night out. Incredibly funny with some fierce ladies leading the cast. They will have to go some to match the broadway leads here. The vocals were mighty impressive.

Shows like Mean Girls,Be More Chill etc are the future of MT...old f***s like me can still enjoy our My Fair Lady’s and the like but theatre must reach out to the young.Hopefully the youngsters can feel at home in the theatre and then discover some of the ‘older’ musicals for themselves.Maybe?

Many things about which I am meh after listening to the CD I really enjoy when I am there. (Though things that are good on CD tend to be the best!)

This is not My Fair Lady but compare to Legally Blond, Heathers and the like it has Tina Fey's witty dry sense of humor. Not just for screaming teenagers

Ahhh glad to see this coming over! I didn’t love it as much as some have as the music didn’t particularly capture me but when I saw it, but it’s got a good book and is a hella lot of fun! The Savoy will be a good theatre for it I think! I hope they cast it well 😍

A little bit of an update on a potential transfer, although nothing too exciting. Saw Sonia Friedman at the stage door of Rosmersholm last night and asked her if there was any news regarding a Mean Girls West End transfer. She told me that, whilst there are still plans to bring it over, she's finding it immensely difficult to find a theatre. As a result, it doesn't look like a transfer will be happening anytime soon, unfortunately. Still, I'm sure it will make it's way over someday.

I'm not sure I can believe that, what with all the shows popping in and out as fillers everywhere. And what's going into the savoy after Sunday then?

Deadline mentioned Spring 2021 so perhaps they're waiting for the Adelphi to become available from March. Does make me wonder what's going into the Savoy once Sunday in the Park with George is finished.

"The Broadway musical adaptation of the 2004 teen comedy will now be adapted into a feature film of its own by Paramount."
"The news of the movie musical comes as producers of the Mean Girls on Broadway are in final talks for the show to bow in London's West End in late Spring of 2021."

I Think the Savoy stage is too thin for mean girls because the august Wilson is quite wide and it is a huge curved led wall so it has to have room to curve if you know what I mean lol
