How easy is it getting rush tickets? Will keep trying, I assumed the front row was held for rush but I guess not. Used to be. Its now released two weeks in advance (at full price)

Seems actually very tricky! Have tried twice this week and then check throughout the day and no luck.

Seems actually very tricky! Have tried twice this week and then check throughout the day and no luck. Same results! I tried multiple times and succeeded only one for a single ticket and it was a bad seat. So I guess rush is not the way to go for this show if you're not super-flexible and patient. Fingers crossed it will be better for Why Am I So Single, especially after a few weeks from the first show.

Rush tickets for this are rough. Definitely the hardest to get decent tix out of any show on the WE right now.
Wake up at like, 9:45am on the dot and cross your fingers. I only know one person who has ever gotten rush tickets for this and they were fairly decent.

From the looks of a couple of insta stories from cast members over the last few days it looks like they were recording a cast recording? Can anyone confirm?

I've seen it. They might be making an EP of the new/updated songs. The OBC is still actively sold and promoted so no need to choke sales of that. Would be cool to be sold in London.

I wouldn’t be surprised at a cast album. Inevitably this version with the new songs and lyrics will eventually be the version licensed for am dram groups and so an updated recording will come in most handy!

Is there anything special happening in London (some bank holidays or whatever) that makes todaytix not offer London Theatre Week deals for Mean Girls only for the week of 29.10-03.11 (and weeks before and after are covered)? Thanks!

Optimistically planning to attempt to bag a rush ticket for this on Friday for the matinee. Has anyone had any joy thus far?
Any top tips, do they drop a second load of rush tickets later in the day, etc?

This morning I woke up at 9:30am and was shocked that they actually went out a minute or two slightly early today. Just be there on the dot and you'll succeed if you're booking a solo ticket. Good luck if you're booking for two..!

I love the original 2004 film. I really like listening to the OBC recording. I actually enjoyed the musical movie earlier this year, despite the negative reviews. I am a huge fan of Heathers, Legally Blonde and even the recent Clueless developmental production. But, despite all that, this much-hyped show left me feeling a little cold and very underwhelmed.
In terms of the narrative, it’s functional. It hits all the right beats without ever really extending itself beyond Tina Fey’s original film adaptation. For me, that’s a poor contrast compared to similar teen cult classics like Legally Blonde and Heathers, even Back to the Future, all of which manage to go above and beyond the IP.
This is a production lacking in energy. Casey Nicholaw’s direction and choreography is lacklustre. I was especially disappointed with the big ensemble numbers, particularly how static ‘Sexy’ comes across compared to the film version. Likewise, ‘Revenge Party’ at the end of Act One.
Beyond Tom Xander, who brings a little extra vim and vigour to Damian, nobody in the company really stands out. Georgina Castle is suitably catty as Regina but doesn’t seem to hold the stage in the same way many a Heather Chandler has done over the years. Perhaps the ‘plastics’ are just less interesting?
Grace Mouat was consistently funny and sang well as Karen and was probably the highlight of the show vocally. But the staging just made a relatively solid score come across as underpowered. If we are in the era of the musical adaptation, creatives have to push the material on. This is more like the lazy Mrs Doubtfire (albeit with a much better score).
Another aspect that I really didn’t enjoy was the set. The screens were impressive for all of five minutes before the constant scene shifting between unimaginative and generic AI art was really disappointing. Even Clueless’s developmental run in Bromley offered more.
I genuinely think this score, maybe with a few numbers dropped and replaced with better, deserved more. Maybe in years to come a revival will give it the staging it could do with. For now, it’s fine but less than the sum of its parts.
This Friday matinee was also up there among the worst, most obnoxious audiences I’ve ever come across. Constant loud rustling, talking and filming. I knew what to expect but this was a different level.
Two stars.

I agree with an awful lot of this. Mouat & Xander aside it really was underwhelming.

So I absolutely loved this……………….in New York.
So one of my favourites songs the first one ‘A Cautionary Tale’ seems to have been changed out of all recognition and for the worse, the Broadway version set up the show perfectly and to be honest all the changes haven’t improved the show. So why would the creatives change a show that got rave reviews in New York? The casting also seems very lacklustre too.
To be fair this show seems more about the producers looking at a balance sheet to maximise profits and took their eye off the show. The show should always come first and the profits look after themselves, which brings me neatly on to the show’s atmosphere and the fourth wall, this had none, unless you count a party popper being fired into the audience at the end of watch half.
Tina Fey’s book is great, so is Grace Mount.
3 stars

It shows how the theatre must have had pockets of bad behaviour because I didn’t experience anything like you did. It was just an enthusiastic audience enjoying the show. There were a lot of covers on that day which I guess is expected as the show has been running a while now and it is the summer. We had cover Regina, Gretchen, Janis and Cady. Aside from noticing it wasn’t Georgina Castle as Regina, i wouldn’t have known they were not the principle actors as their performance was slick with great confidence. I had no expectations for the show and left having had an enjoyable couple of hours. It wasn’t my favourite but it’s definitely a fun production.

My preview of Stagedoor Theatre's "The Story of My Life" was cancelled Thursday night, so I bought one of those late-release £45 front row stalls seats for this instead, and had a ball all over again.
Some spoilers follow. . .
Critical to my enjoyment was Georgina Castle being back on as the preternatural predator, Regina George. Her performance is scary, mysteriously strange and commandingly hilarious in equal measure.
Baylie Carson was on as Janis, and gives a more smilingly ingratiating performance than Elena Skye does, who is, by contrast, unsmilingly ferociously sincere. I love Skye's sincerity as it's a steely moral anchor for the show, but it is wonderful to be able to see a more loose and loveable rendition of the same character, perhaps more in kin with the movie version, and whose powerful vocal is almost the match for Skye's exceptional powerhouse vocal.
Charlie Burn was back on as Cady, and has immeasurably grown in expressiveness since first preview. Her vocals are wonderful, and if she isn't quite as emotive as Lilia Squires in the same role, it became apparent to me that Charlie Burn's ace card is how precisely she reproduces the look and mannerisms of Lindsay Lohan in the original film.
Georgia Arron was on as Gretchen Weiners, and she was SO fetch, every bit the quivering mess the character calls for her to be. If she was slightly less funny than the main Weiners, she made up for it by being slightly more moving in the poignancy of her self-hating ego-obliterated ultra-sadness.
Grace Mouat, Zoe Rainey and Tom Xander delivered their supremely accomplished comic performances, which are a big reason I booked to see this again on a suddenly freed up night.
This was 4 stars for the laughs, performances and the x-factor of Georgina Castle's inexplicable unique predatory weirdness lol.

Does anybody know if there's a conductor in view from the front row center? Thanks! No, the conductor is sunken down into the pit, so doesn’t obscure the view. Incidentally, I have a front row centre stalls seat (BB8) available for sale on the noticeboard for tonight. theatreboard.co.uk/thread/12413/girls-thurs-centre-front-stalls
