Looks like they managed to get some famous faces in for Press/Opening night tonight.
Made sense that most of the event took place outdoors, but I feel bad for anyone sitting in the Savoy to watch the show tonight.
The Savoy is a sweatbox even in winter. Imagine today? Yuck

Looks like they managed to get some famous faces in for Press/Opening night tonight. Made sense that most of the event took place outdoors, but I feel bad for anyone sitting in the Savoy to watch the show tonight. The Savoy is a sweatbox even in winter. Imagine today? Yuck I was there last night and the air conditioning was lovely!! I was down in the stalls though so not sure if the upper circle is quite as cool. |

What interesting is I saw the show last Friday matinee and actually preferred the second half which I didn’t think would happen as I love the first half on broadway. But weirdly I really enjoyed “Whose house is this” which used to be one of my least favourite songs in the show. I do love the new extended version of revenge party though. I wasn’t a fan of the first half that much. Took till revenge for me to really start enjoying it |

There you go, just proves you can never second guess theatre, a pertinent example is Legally Blonde which is similar to this, same lyricist (Nell Benjamin) which didn't do too well on Broadway but was a massive hit here, the exact opposite of Mean Girls. I will now be looking for a reasonably priced ticked.
I saw Mean Girls a couple of times on Broadway and loved it.

Reviews aren’t going to help or hurt this show. People are either going to go because they know the film or not. I happen to love it.

Hi! First forum post - nice to meet you all!
Just wanted to put my two pence in about Mean Girls. For me, it was a solid 7/10. I’ve been looking forward to this for years and I think, if it wasn’t for the hype and anticipation, it would’ve been a 9. I’m not sure what it is, but there’s just something lacking.
Strangely I don’t agree with the consensus that Act 2 is particularly weaker. The music in Act 1 is much better but it felt slow, Act 2 felt a lot better in terms of pacing but the music doesn’t come up to much, at least in my opinion.
It looks really good and the cast is extremely strong, nobody out of place. Just not quite sure what’s missing for me.

Regina arguably gets the best two songs in the show, and she did a good job, but unfortunately it didn’t blow me away like it should have for two huge numbers like that. I guess lip syncing parts of World Burn doesn’t help. I thought Gretchen and Karen were the stand outs. |

I did find Castle a bit shrill at times.
Underwhelmed by the whole thing if I'm honest. Great cast who do brilliantly with what they've got and it looks terrific, I just found the material really weak and was pretty bored for the most part, a few mildly funny bits and a handful of OK songs but not one I'll be seeing again.

Shrill might be a bit harsh, but just not the massive vocal & performance I was hoping for. It’s just as much on me, hoping they’d found someone that could do it 100% justice. She nailed the characterisation, but as you say Gretchen & Karen outshone her.
