They've hinted at the plot on twitter, for anyone who is in the mood for working it out: Let's have a go based on those emojis: She changes race. Becomes a doctor. Dyes her hair blonde. Moves to Disneyland Paris. Becomes a costumed entertainer there, potentially in Hunchback of Notre Dame. It's going to be SO BAD 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌😂😂😂😂😂

I can see why you're (presumably) not a writer of musicals!

I don’t know why people are convinced that this show is going to be “so bad”...?
Stranger concepts for musicals have happened, and it’ll be fun to come back and read these pages if the show’s a hit.

Can anybody honestly tell me they heard the plot for Six and thought it was going to be brilliant? You can't always just take a show on the sound of it's plot line. And with this we don't even know it, so writing it off seems awfully premature.

Why stop at Six? Imagine hearing the plot of Les Mis or Hamilton without knowing anything about them, you would be forgiven for not recognising them as two of the biggest musicals in the world!

List is endless. Cats. Starlight Express. All absolutely bonkers on paper.
99% of musicals need to be seen to be judged! (OK, maybe 95%....)

I can see why you're (presumably) not a writer of musicals! I don't need to be when the production's twitter feed sends out its "plot" with emojis. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm still laughing at what they could mean. Hopefully better than what I've come up with. Have a crack at it yourself Baemax: what do you think those emojis reveal? (Admittedly I skipped a couple!)

I think Daniel's right when he says it *hints* at the plot rather than spells it out. A doctor saves Juliet's life, she overhauls her image, packs up her stuff, goes to France, and has a great time. The show will fill the rest in for me when I go to see it.

There has never been a sequal/follow on story musical that has ever succeeded. Annie 2, Love Never Dies, Bring Back Birdie, Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public, A Doll's Life, to name a few.
I'm not seeing anything to make me think this will do any better.

Based on the emojis:
Juliet is increasingly bored by Romeo’s sappy behaviour, so she poisons him with a bowl of Lidl pea soup that’s way past its sell by date.
She then hooks up with Macaulay Culkin , but starts to tire of him and hermurderous thoughts re-emerge.
She mulls over her urge to kill again, but decides instead to find a new life elsewhere.
Being on the run from the police on account of Romeo’s murder, she disguised herself firstly with a brunette wig and then a blonde one and flees to France.
Once there, she looks to the future by starting up a bouncy castle rental business by day and introducing the art of Flamenco dancing to the people of France by night.
The End.
As Elder Cunningham would say, ‘I’m interested’.

I don’t know why people are convinced that this show is going to be “so bad”...? Because the thought of Juliet getting over Romeo's death in an instant and gallivanting off to Paris is really just so ridiculous it's impossible to think how it could ever be made good. And that's before you add in a soundtrack so cheesy that Wallace & Gromit would be proud of it! Don't get me wrong, I like the cast enough that I probably will see this unless the reviews are catastrophic, but nothing about this sounds good apart from the people who will be onstage!

After what I’ve heard from this weeks workshops, I’m not writing this one off. Sounds very exciting!

While the plot sounds thin (and borders ridiculous), I wouldn't write this off completely yet. Jukebox musicals are mainly based on their scores - and if we are to go with the two songs they've released so far, it seems that they deliver to an audience that wants a musical with familiar songs belted right. The audience coming into this show know what they are signing up for. So give them great singing and choreography that makes these pop songs pop out like music video, and you got yourself an appreciative audience.

Juliet knew Romeo for less than a week; yeah, she's gonna grieve, but also she's *definitely* going to be okay.

How old is Juliet supposed to be in this show? Is it like a "10 years later" thing or is it supposed to pick up (almost) where the play ends?

And how can she be wearing Converse? They weren’t invented then. I’m affronted.

I mean, it's a reasonable question, if it's meant to pick up *right* from the off with no time jump in the narrative, then we're watching a grieving 13 year old widow move to Paris to have a great old time. She'd be found face-down in the Seine before sun up. I assume (fervently hope) that there will indeed be a time jump and although we may start at the end of the original play, the bulk of the show will be about a somewhat-older Juliet creating a new life for herself.
