Met Dean at the stage door last year in London and had a good chat...lovely guy and a very strong Valjean.Nic is a force of nature as Javert.

I was at the tour again tonight and Zac Hamilton was on as Jean Valjean. I thought he was really good. Lovely voice.

Interesting to see Robert Madge cast in this, he played Gavroche at the Les Mis 25th anniversary concert! I saw him as the Artful Dodger also and thought he was excellent then.

I'm surprised actually at how many of the principal cast are staying on, I thought some of them might join the London production when it opens in December. Perhaps more of the ensemble will transfer over.

Going to Leeds Grand Theatre almost exactly a year after it visited Bradford, just a few miles away - 23 July to 15 August 2020.

Forgive me for double posting.
Not yet on the Les Mis website, but will be at Hull New Theatre from 28 October to 21 November 2020. Tickets from £27, which I consider a bargain for a two level theatre with (almost) no restricted view seats. After this week's shenanigans in Parliament, I'm reluctant to use the c-word, but this is quite a coup for Hull in general, and the New Theatre in particular, which has a capacity of 'only' 1,159.

What he isn’t telling you is that it is the Pie Crust Players masquerading as a sixth form doing the schools version. Sheila & Dave had a load of pallets left over after the failure of their ‘reclaimed furniture’ business so it was top of the list for the next show. Margaret, 58 (far too used to being the lead) had her heart set on Eponine but has had to make do with Lovely Ladies hag who buys Fantines hair. Needless to say that was an interesting conversation.... |

Have finally managed to see Killian Donnelly as JVJ in Newcastle having missed him a couple of years ago at The Queens. This production is brilliant - so much better than the last one in London. The standout performances for me were Killian Donnelly and Nic Greenshields as Javert was superb. He easily got the most cheers of the night when he sang ‘Stars’. Luckily I booked again to see it in a couple of weeks time when bookings opened as it’s now practically sold out. A must see performance.

I am finally thinking of booking a ticket for the tour version. I must be one of the minority people who liked the stage design of the 25th anniversary tour almost as much as the original one.
Before booking, I would like to know if there are known holiday dates for Killian and Nic. I only realised Nic is playing Javert this morning (shame on me) and that made me decide to go see the tour version. If my memory serves me, Nic was a Javert who blew me away completely years ago in London. I had no idea who he was and had to grab an usher to get his name since the cast board at the Queen's was totally useless.
So, if any of you have the above information, please share it here. That would be very much appreciated.

Unfortunately Les Mis never give out holiday dates, it's kind of annoying. Killian doesn't do Monday nights and he was on holiday recently so you're probably okay for him, don't know about Nic. I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask him on Twitter.

I'm going to the tour next Saturday in Newcastle. I completely forgot that there were planned engineering works on my train line so I am having to get the bus from Edinburgh, so that will be fun.

Apparently one of the female ensemble fell into the orchestra pit at the beginning of act two tonight and there was a brief show stop.

I’m just on the coach home from seeing this in Newcastle, and I was honestly so impressed. I was doubtful having seen the Queens production before it closed but all it took was the first few notes of the overture before I had chills.
It was mostly full cast apart from Jessie Hart as Eponine and Lee Ormsby as Thenardier, both of which were brilliant. Killian and Nic were both on top form. I was particularly impressed by Harry Apps - he’s only a couple of years older than me and he’s in a lead on arguably the best show out on tour right now. Sophie-Louise Dann was hilarious and got the most laughs which I expected. The ensemble were all brilliant too.
I was sat in the gallery for £29 which was advertised as restricted view, but it was actually amazing. I only really missed the top of the back wall of the stage, but not that much really happens up top apart from some of the barricade bits and the Thenardiers in One Day More. The legroom was great also - the first time at a theatre where I haven’t had to stand up to let people pass.
On the whole, I now believe this production is highly worthy of its status in the West End!

I'd like some advice
I'm going up north for a holiday and am pondering nipping up to Newcastle to see the current cast.
A lot of seats have gone. I've found a U33 or T32 right in the corner of the back of the stalls or C2 in the Grand circle
Otherwise I've found some end seats in the ampitheatre part of the gallery
I'm not fussed about views. I'm going to be in the front stalls when I see the new cast at the Mayflower

I'm going to be in the front stalls when I see the new cast at the Mayflower Personally I’d choose the Stalls, as I’ve sat in the back 2 rows there for different shows in the past and you can see/hear everything fine. Plus the Stalls aren’t as big as other theatres so it doesn’t seem as far away from the stage. The amphitheatre and gallery are very high so something to consider if you’re not keen on heights. |
