marob Thanks for letting me know but I already booked for Leicester this afternoon - couldn't resist the one seat left in the centre of the front row for the Saturday matinee! Maybe as Andy Coxon has done WSS before he'll be let off the full rehearsal period so can do 16th-28th March in Curtains. Or if he doesn't do it then hopefully they'll get another proper MT performer rather than someone stunt-cast. did you pick up a day seat and what do they charge?

I don't think it was a proper day seat, more a last-minute reduction. I was sold E20 in the dres circle for £25. A look on the DelMac website indicate it's variously priced £50 or £70 for future performances. I usually prefer stalls to dress circle, being short-sighted, but as Wyndham's is a small theatre I decided to risk it & found it was close enough that I could see facial expressions alright.

There have been some really great Rush seats for this on the TodayTix app the last few days. All in the first 5 or so rows.

When does Andy Coxon finish, anyone know? I want to see it with him and hoping for a rush ticket over Christmas.

He's in the production until 4th Jan BUT Ore Oduba will he back for the final week of the West End run, which means Andy will probably be there as back up, because he's currently covering Ore's role x

I unexpectedly saw this yesterday afternoon, when I had a matinee slot become vacant at the last minute because I couldn't get to Alexandra Palace as the trains were screwed, though I had inteneded to see it at some point in the next few weeks. I really enjoyed it. Jason Manford was a lot better than I was expecting. I'm sure we've all seen a fair few stunt cast celebrities in musicals who can just about hold a tune but I thought his voice was pretty good, with tone & depth. I was pleased to avoid Ore Oduba, who I'm not very keen on as a presenter & have no desire to see in a musical. I thought Andy Coxon was really good & while I'd like to see the show again I'd only want to do so when he was in it, so I'm eyeing up Leicester in March which is advertised as Oduba-less! Almost all the rest of the leads, indeed the majority of the cast, I've previously seen in other shows & they all came up to expectations. I was decidedly hacked off that Alan Burkitt's character got shot during his dance solo, as I think he's a terrific dancer & wanted it to go on for longer! This is the sixth show I've seen Samuel Holmes in & he's pretty much played the same character in all of them, but he does it extremely entertainingly! Can you elaborate please on the dance solo? Who does the dance solo and what part of the show it is in please?

Can you elaborate please on the dance solo? Who does the dance solo and what part of the show it is in please? As Dawnstar said Bobby (Alan Burkitt) does the solo, it's in the second half during Kansasland when they are re-staging the square dance number. It starts with Bambi dancing (I want to say she's Princess Kikapoo or something like that), then she dances with Bobby and then Bobby dances alone. Are you wondering {Spoiler - click to view}about when the expected gun shot would be? If so I hope that has been of some help. If you want more info about the actual dance, well it's got lots of nice leaps in it! (I am rubbish at dance terms, leaps will have to do). Here's a link to the Curtains website with a photo of Bobby during the solo curtainsmusical.com/london/#prettyPhoto[production]/9/

{Spoiler - click to view}about when the expected gun shot would be? Ah, I'm glad you've worked out why that question has probably been asked. I was looking it & wondering why that particular part of my post had been singled out for further elaboration, especially as I too am useless at the technical details of dance.

I wasn't too sure either but thought it might be that, {Spoiler - click to view}gunshots are things that some people do like to know about in advance, so it could possibly be that? If that is the case there are more gun shots than just that and info can be given.

{Spoiler - click to view}I'd be keen to know when the gunshots are too, please. And also if they are blanks or recordings. Gunshots for anyone interested: {Spoiler - click to view}I think there are 3 times that gun shots happen, all in act 2. I am watching again tonight so will check that this is right.
1st Gunshot - During the dance as explained above. 2nd Gunshot - Just after the dance when Bobby is shot, Nicky finds the gun and comes back on stage with it, as she is holding the gun it goes off. 3rd Gunshots - Think there are multiple shots this time. When the stage manager (can't remember his name) goes to look in the pit because he thinks the cat is still there there are multiple shots as he is shot. He's the only person on stage at that point and it's a bit after the director (Christopher) has found the cat in the pit.
As to if they are blanks or sound effects I have no idea, not something that ever has bothered me. I really should know the difference as I have heard enough blanks go off in my life (worked on too many action films). I will try and work that out tonight, not that I know how I'll tell the difference other than seeing the gun smoking a little bit, are blanks a sharper sound? Then again only the 2nd gunshot involves a gun, and I don't think the trigger is actually pulled, so maybe all sound effects? Sorry for the rubbish answer.

I saw this earlier this week, and add me to the pleasantly surprised gang. I wasn't sure what to expect but I thought it was an entertaining show. The music was pleasant, though I'm not sure I'd say it's particularly memorable, but I loved the showpieces and the cast were all great. It's also a good whodunit (I guessed wrong!) and very very funny. As people have mentioned Jason Manford was good, and he can certainly hold a tune but I think Samuel Holmes was my favourite, he was so sarcastic and dry and had most of the best lines. I'd definitely recommend it. Also it was good to meet dippy too!

We had JM's understudy which was clearly indicated on the website. I would be interested to see how it pans out with a comedian in the tittle role. I say that as the performance was really flat, no one had any sense of comic timing. On top of that no one had any star quality and it was a very disappointing night of theatre.
I was fortunate enough to see the final preview on Broadway and it was so brilliant unfortunately this production doesn't come anywhere close.

Perhaps I was lucky to have nothing to compare this to but I was delighted with my visit today: got a great day seat (row F stalls) for £15, absolutely loved the show and had the impression that the rest of the audience was also enjoying it. A new genre for me (musical murder mystery) but the songs were the familiar, catchy type of number and I'm still warbling "I miss the music" hours later, so this definitely passed my personal old grey whistle test. Perfect cheering seasonal fare.

I'm hoping to go to one of the extra matinee shows they are doing over Christmas and before Andy Coxon finishes. Does anyone knowvif home and Jason Manford do all shows? Can't find anything on DM website.

I really love a Kander and Ebb show and this is one I hadn’t seen before. Got a todaytix rush seat in the royal circle last night and had a great time. It’s ridiculous but in a really fun way, Carley Stenson is wonderful and I really loved Andy Coxon singing I Miss the Music. Manford acquitted himself pretty well with a very earnest Frank Cioffi and Rebecca Lock was a real highlight. Will be popping by again before 6th January!

Sorry if this has already been noted, but TodayTix are selling Stalls Row C as the third row, when it is in fact the front row. Does anyone have an idea of how good these seats are please?

Sorry if this has already been noted, but TodayTix are selling Stalls Row C as the third row, when it is in fact the front row. Does anyone have an idea of how good these seats are please? I think this would be OK and was considering buying one online, but for the fact that the whole row had been removed (from the website) on the day of my visit. When I asked the Box Office why these seats hadn't been offered at £27.50 online on the day as usual - I had been checking - they said it was because they did not wish to have empty seats, implying that they expected the matinee that day to be quieter. In the event that row was not only in use but pretty full, as were the stalls generally, so business must have picked up that morning - and TKTS has also had seats. However, if you are able to call in person for a day seat, they're cheaper than online and from TKTS and I got a much better deal, ie better seat and at almost half the cost. It just depends whether you can risk it and how busy your chosen performance is. I had been keeping an eye on mine and could see plenty of seats left.
