I also hope they will include the wonderful "The Bargain / The Thénardier Waltz of Treachery". I really missed this in the 10th and 25th anniversary shows. It's my favorite part of the score.
Valjean: I found her wandering in the wood This little child, I found her trembling in the shadows And I am here to help Cosette And I will settle any debt you may think proper I will pay what I must pay To take Cosette away.
There is a duty I must heed There is a promise I have made For I was blind to one in need I did not see what stood before me Now her mother is with God Fantine's suffering is over And I speak here with her voice And I stand here in her place
And from this day and evermore
Mme. Thénardier: Let me take your coat, M'sieur...
Valjean: Cosette shall live in my protection
Thénardier: You are very welcome here.
Valjean: I shall not forget my vow
Thénardier: Take a glass.
Mme. Thénardier: Take a chair.
Valjean: Cosette shall have a father now

I saw both of them on Broadway; it was Boe's first performance and he was fantastic. I hadn't seen him since he played Rodolfo in La Boheme. JOJ was also fantastic to see, though I felt like I was never surprised by anything he did!

In her new series of videos “May, Myself and I” Carrie manages to make a song she never sung, all about her 🙂

Really do want to catch this, and take my Grandad. He listens to AB's Bring Him Home endlessly, and when we saw the show in London a few years back he cried his eyes out to it.
He always said he wants to see Boe in the role and I never thought it'd happen so desperate to take him. But my god these tickets are a fortune!!!! I'd love decent seats but goodness this is steep for a production where people just stand at a mic, no revolve in sight!

John Owen Jones superior to Alfie Boe in the role in every way. The subtlety in his voice, the color, the nuances, the acting, the building of the notes, the changes between the notes, the changing of intention in a note. He is a master of this craft and especially in this role. I find his performance to be incredibly refined, sincere and truthful. Boe is a good operatic singer, but lacks all nuance and leans on technique and loudness most of the time. Are JOJ's dates announced?

Just been notified that my booked matinee on August 21st has been "moved" to the 20th. No explanation offered. We have the option to accept the change, refund or rebook subject to availability. Really annoying when you have made travel arrangements etc

Really annoying when you have made travel arrangements etc It's getting a bit crazy, first swapping round the Valjeans for a week now this (with much less notice!) Of course people will have booked accommodation or other shows around it!

Yep, trip planned, other shows booked, time off booked. Very frustrating, and not a hint as to the reason.

No it starts on the 10th. The website is confusing but I think it's because they only show performances with availability.

I heard Eponine was going to be Samantha Barks though it could have been just a rumor. Cam does love her and she'll have ended her run in Pretty Woman by then.

It would seem odd having her as Eponine, while Carrie is playing Fantine. I'd have thought if she was going to be in it, she'd have played Fantine.

As I said, i heard whispers of this and it is definitely NOT substantiated. Who would make a good Eponine in a run such as this?

Danielle Hope is probably the next best-known actress to have played Eponine (who's still in the age range) after Carrie and Sam

Barks is 28,Fletcher is 26 so in terms of age they are very close so each could play either character with make-up,wigs etc,I suppose. That is if the plan was to have them both on board?

Always wanted to see Samantha's Eponine! I love her!
Would be good from a marketing stance to have her, seeing as she played Eponine in the film, but it's sold out anyways!

She did the 25th Anniversary concert with Alfie Boe. She could make good money for a few months unless shed be tired from doing Pretty Woman in New York? I assume she will star in it in the West End when it comes.

Both characters are young women, they are in different eras in the story! It would seem odd (to me) both age-wise and career-wise, given the way the roles are traditionally cast. Carrie, who is 26 and played Eponine from 2013-2016, said something in a YouTube video that she has retired from playing the (16-year-old) character now, so the next logical step would be Fantine (a character who is 28 when she dies). For that reason it seems odd that Samantha, who is 28, played Eponine in 2010/11 (and the film in 2012), and has a higher profile than Carrie, would return to the role, after spending the last year in New York leading an original Broadway production. Of course there's no rule preventing it from happening, and this is a concert version where Enjolras is being played by an ex-Javert.

Of course there's no rule preventing it from happening, and this is a concert version where Enjolras is being played by an ex-Javert. I don't think any of that really makes a difference - it is being billed as a "all-star" concert after all, and it isn't a traditional production of the show in any sense, so who better to have as Eponine than the film star. And given she's just done a year in Pretty Woman, playing Eponine again wouldnt be difficult for Barks and would effectively be a bit of a break while still bringing some money in and bringing her back to the attention of the London theatre scene after her time away. And age is meaningless - they both still look the appropriate age for their characters, who are as I said around the same age at the points they appear in the show. It all makes complete sense to me, though I'm not convinced it will actually happen.

If we are going with age being meaningless, Frances Ruffelle or Linzi Hately for Eponine please (or is that pushing it too far? - they do both look incredible for their age....).
