Yeah, I reckon it was pre-recorded.

How did JOJ get from the Pointless studio to the theatre in time? It was recorded in June!

It takes 2 to 3 hours to film an episode, then there's a lot of editing.

Went to see a magic show yesterday which had some singing insetred between magics. Singers included Carrie, Rob and JOJ. Sweet! What was the set list, any recordings? Aww, the magic bits were so awful I can't remember much. JOJ sang MotN with karaoke which was quite different from what he is used to and missed an entrance in the mid section. But he skillfully turned it into a joke. A very rare experience listening to MotN with a joke or two. Carrie sang something from Wicked and Rob sang the magic carpet duet from Aladin, which was very nice. The rest is hazy. My mind was numbed by the boring magics which were inserted after each single song. Admittedly, it was called a magic show but...

Some standing tickets have been added. I managed to pick up one for Saturday.
Really looking forward to it.

Thank you shady23. I have also managed to buy one standing ticket. I hope my old legs will survive the three hours.

How does standing work for this?
Does everyone get an allocated space or is there a scrum? ☺

If John goes on his scheduled holiday and Alfie's still unwell, there may be a chance of seeing Adam Bayjou this week. Understudy love!

Rehearsals for the new London production started today so those of the cast who are carrying will have a busy few weeks! Especially Bradley doing Javert during the day then Enjolras at night.

Ah, OK. Then, I am safe. Thank you, Furet.
BTW, Christopher Jaconsen, who is playing the tanoy role, is a very good JVJ understudy too.

I've always assumed JOJ performed when Alfie was scheduled to be off and vice versa. But yeah makes sense, principal -> alt -> 1st cover, etc.

I've heard Chris is quite similar to JOJ, makes a lot of sense since he understudied for JOJ during the 25th Anniversary Tour. Kinda want to see him perform more than seeing Adam. But it's not like I'm seeing the show this week anyway, lol
Chris is a very, very, very good loudhailer. Almost steals the show during First Attack/Final Battle.

But yeah makes sense, principal -> alt -> 1st cover, etc. I think there were a few performances where they officially swapped, and so were advertised as JOJ or Alfie performing. But in this case the website just says "John Owen-Jones is not appearing" for Wed matinee and Thurs evening, and "Alfie Boe not appearing" for Fri and both Sat shows. I would assume it's the understudy doing JOJ's shows, but not sure if JOJ is back to cover AB's shows.

I am seeing both shows on Saturday. I’m there for the matinee. This week was swapped around early on, Alfie doing 5 in a row to start the week then JOJ Friday and Saturday so I assume that is still the plan. I was happy with the swap as seen Alfie before

Is this swapping around happening next week. Is Joj performing on 6th matinee?

I saw Chris Jacobsen as Valjean when the tour was at the Barbican in 2010. I remember he was good in the role but don't remember if he was particularly similar to JOJ, but then it was 9 years ago so I can't say I can remember details, plus I was sitting in the balcony so would have been too far away for many details in the first place.

When Chris was an understudy JVJ at the Queen's, we used to say he was like a baby JOJ. He can sing and can act with his heart. And they generally look similar to each other - similar faces, similar height and build and similar hair colours.
His last performance as JVJ at the Queen's, several years ago, was very impressive and moving. We could tell that he really gave it his all.
