Was just coming to check that very thing. Was the announcement reliable? As given it's meant to be on in June, it's all very quiet. I saw this on Broadway a couple of years ago with Kevin Kline, and it's a very creaky effort all round. Might be worth a look if they cast it interestingly, maybe even do some gender swaps with the characters, so the lead is bisexual even. Would that cause too much consternation?? Could work. The main character is gay..ish.....I don’t want to offend anyone but that is the only way I can express it. Help me out someone. He likes bottom exploring but only every other weekend? |

Brilliant cast! I've seen three productions of Present Laughter, all in New York: with Geoge C. Scott (1982); Frank Langella (1996); and Kevin Kline (2017). All excellent, but Frank Langella was the best. It's a great play and requires a great cast, which it will have at the Old Vic.

Woohoo, I'm liking the cast. I'm a Sophie Thompson fan so that would have got me going anyway but oh my, if Indira Varma isn't one of the most beautiful creatures on the planet then I will eat my hat (if I had one) and I'm hoping that her appearance in this will encourage a producer to cast her in a new production of 'Private Lives' as she would be SENSATIONAL as Amanda.

Am afraid to me this seems desperately unexciting. I was hoping for some real exciting left field choices, maybe that's still to come? Although having looked up Indira Varma and Sophie Thompson, I have clearly had my head in a bucket as truthfully I had never heard of either of them and didn't recognise the pictures. How have I missed them both, they seem to have been everywhere, do I need to revise my opinion of the production?

I think the casting is VERY exciting. Andrew Scott is a perfect choice for Gary; Luke Thallon (I assume he is playing Roland Maule) is a brilliant young actor, as attested by his lively performance at Guildhall in Crazy for You; as well as his strong supporting performance in Albion. Sophie Thompson and Indira Varma are always excellent. I've seen Ms. Thompson in many roles over the years. Indira Varma was quite wonderful in The Hothouse, as Tamora in Titus Andronicus, and as Ana in Man and Superman. Present Laughter needs a strong ensemble, and I think in the Old Vic production it has it.

Booked without a problem, but favourite Q34 is no longer the end of the row. Giving the new Q35 a chance, hopefully as good... Funny you should say that, TM. I got a call from the OLD VIC box office a few days ago to move me from P/Q pillar seats (£21), one behind the other, to mid row R Stalls for ALL MY SONS. They said that there had been a slight rejig of the seats, I think to accommodate a wheelchair space (? I think that's what they said, not sure.) Anyway, I was assured that even though it was a row further back the two seats in Row R were much better and they didn't charge me anymore. So may have to find new favourite bargain seats! |

I’m having trouble getting tix for the first week, four together. I’m a premium friend ( I think) and the night I want is for patrons so they are saving all the best seats! That is 2oth June. And the rest of the first week well booked, the pricey seats anyway.

^Possibly the first time in theatreboard history that someone has complained they can't get the POSH seats, LOL. For the record, cheapskate corner for the lowest rung of membership was a breeze getting a ticket, LOL. Ha ha ha. Yes, well, some of us splash out occasionally. This for a double anniversary, mine and friends. I’ll find another date and persecute the development office! |

I can't get your site to load at the moment so can't check if you've already updated over there. I figured I probably shouldn't risk waiting for £10 release for this since I only just got ticket for last play and the whole Andrew Scott thing is likely to kick in. |

I booked Q34/Q35 so will test and evaluate both!
Pretty good availability. I was in the queue about 11.55, and waited for about 20 minutes before my turn came up.
