With Jersey Boys closing on Broadway in January, I wonder if the West End production might follow suit in 2017,

With Jersey Boys closing on Broadway in January, I wonder if the West End production might follow suit in 2017, Hmmm I guess chances are likely, but you never know. I can't believe that it's closing after 11 years! I've only seen it on tour, but it is still an excellent show! Just goes to show that nothing is really safe, even the long-runners. But if it does close, 8+ years in London is still an excellent run, and no doubt it would live on, on tour or a revival. |

I love this show, but every time I've been since cast change - the theatre has been, at best, 60-70% full. I wouldn't be surprised if the show closes in the West End soon.

The theatre was quite empty when I saw the show on Broadway in June (orchestra maybe 60% full). It was a Wednesday matinee though. Not too surprised it is closing. And 11 years is a great run.
I've only seen the West End production once since cast change. It was about 80% full then (Saturday matinee). But I've heard weekdays can be really quiet.

I still think the original 4 were the best but that's personal opinion. With few exceptions I have liked the replacements. There are always people you enjoy watching a little more or a little less. But all in all I think Jersey Boys has done a good job with its cast over the years. |

I wouldn't be surprised if this closes. It's done very well to have played to good houses in two huge theatres for many years. If they don't want to close it, I think they would atleast move it to say Playhouse or Harold Pinter. The Picadilly is probably really wanted at the moment for transfers and new musicals so ATG probably want to use one of their bigger theatres and move JB out

Has the cast been terrible since the originals left? No. I saw the OBC and have seen it at least 6 or 7 times since I moved here 5 years ago. The OBC was dried-out and struggling by the time they'd been in it for a year. Subsequent replacements have been mostly good to excellent. If you look at JB's grosses, I kind of figured this would last until the 10th anniversary (last November) and then anything after that was fair game. www.broadwayworld.com/grosses/JERSEY-BOYS |

I saw the penultimate performance of Jersey Boys at the Prince Edward at the last minute, and it was one of the best experiences I've had in the West End - and a great audience.
Haven't seen it since the transfer.

It has done well in London and I presume it will tour again in the next few years if it does close but it's better to go out on a high then move to a smaller theatre and lose more money |

Wow, unexpected but not really! I think once the Broadway production announced it was closing, I thought London was going to follow soon after. Still nine years is nothing to be sniffed at. |

Very sad to hear the show is closing. Seems a shame they didn't try to get it to a milestone 10th birthday, but I guess things aren't that simple. At least there's a tour!

I suspect that another show wants the Piccadilly and Jersey Boys likely hasn't been doing great business hence why it's closing. |
