Why would they do that when they'd prefer people went to their FFE pantos instead?

Why would they do that when they'd prefer people went to their FFE pantos instead? Well they did it at the Duke of York's last year. Some money is better than no money

Also, I was watching a Q&A with Beverley Knight and she said how she would love to play the role of Shug Avery if it comes over here! I think she'd be amazing in that role and I really hope they bring it over

But I think the role is far too small for someone of her standing, and as has already been discussed, it's highly unlikely it will be back here

Some money is better than no money Yes, in a smaller venue with very low running costs where the show requires intimacy and proximity to the stage. They wouldn't waste a small show in a bigger venue.

Jennifer Hudson has just played the role on Broadway. No need to tell me information I already know. The role was too small for JHud too.

It's just speculation... And also if Beverley said she wanted to play that role then I just said that would be amazing

I know the purpose of this thread is to discuss what might be opening in which theatre and when but are rumours which might have a realistic chance of coming to fruition, or which are based on some genuine substance, at risk of being lost amidst what sometimes feels like relentless speculation about transfers or castings which are as likely to happen as Exposure the Musical embarking on a critically acclaimed run at the Palladium or the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society pulling off a flawless performance where everything goes right. Just my thoughts, no offence intended.

I personally think The Color Purple could transfer in a few years

If it were (and it won't) they'd run it off the back of the current Broadway revival, not open it cold.

I hold fast to my belief that Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society will one day be vindicated by an Olivier-winning run of their classic one-man musical "Cat." (Which I sadly missed.)

Some of these threads need a Serious Renaming Ceremony: this one is up for a medal, surely... "Rumoured transfers" is now "What I think/What I would like". The first was mildly interesting. The second is not.

It's just speculation to be honest, for people to speculate what they would like to come but also what is rumoured to come (like waitress).
It you don't particularly like reading it then you don't have to

I'm in agreement with the people who think it would be nice if this rumours thread was actual rumours, with speculation and wishlists in another thread. That way we could be certain that there *may* be some truth in what we read in this thread, and we'd also know we can go completely to town in the wishlist thread.

Yeah I like the way you put that, Baemax. I agree with you there but I do like reading this thread for rumours. I also like wishing though!

Now we have a separate thread for wishes, this thread can be for the transfers that have been rumoured. I made a list of the ones that have been rumoured by press, cast, people etc. PLEASE NOTE: The theatres in brackets after some of the shows are theatres i think the show would be most suited to/could transfer to. Honestly personally and nothing confirmed
•Mary Poppins (Drury Lane) •Waitress (Harold Pinter) •Hedwig •Wind in the Willows •Big •Half a Sixpence (Noel Coward) •Who's afraid of Virginia Wolf? (Duke of Yorks) •The King and I •Jesus Christ Supestar •Finding Neverland (Aldwych) •Grey Gardens (Duke of Yorks)
If all these shows did come to London next year, the big question is.... Where are they going to go?!

Wasn't Big rumoured for the Palladium? That seems insane to me, a show like Big would benefit off a much smaller theatre imo
