Must be nearly time for them to start sending out emails announcing when they’re going to send out emails announcing the date they’ll be sending out the season announcement

Know nothing.
But someone on here did suggest they do Me and My Girl, which I thought was a great idea and the rest was history.
The two musicals done last year, were two that were done at Sheffield Theatres recently, so could they do My Fair Lady, However the Broadway production is rumoured to come over.
However I think it would be a great time to do another Sondheim show, as it has been 8 years since Sweeney Todd, could be a great place to also revive the promised Martin Guerre or something like Stop the World I want to Get Off or maybe the Boyfriend, nice to have an English musical.
Plays I have banged on and said it would be great to see more stuff by Neil Simon done, maybe The Caretaker needs doing and believe it or not I have never seen Don’t Look Back in Anger and Terrence Rattigan’s After The Dance or Man and Boy would be delightful.
Mourning Becomes Electra, Anna Christie and A Moon for the Begotten from Eugène O’Neil I have never seen, likewise the Night of the Iguana and Rose Tattoo From Tenesssee Williams I would welcome, Tenessee has been done recently at Chichester though, I wouldn’t grumble over anything by August Wilson.

Having been a massive Chichester fan for years, since Daniel Evans took over I'm slowly losing faith in them, especially when it comes to musicals. Me and My Girl should have been a home run for them, it's incredible how they got it so wrong

Yeah, personal wish lists are no help. Im surprised Evans, who is a big Sondheim fan, hasnt programmed one of his shows yet. Passion would work in the Minerva i would have thought. Im still hoping for Camelot in the mainhouse.

Listening to an interview with him a while ago, Daniel Evans was asked about his reasons for reviving shows in Chichester that he'd previously programmed in Sheffield; namely Me and My Girl & Copenhagen. He mentioned that next year's season would involve him returning to something he'd directed before his time at Sheffield.
Looking at his credits, I'm thinking it may be a Peter Gill play, as he's directed In the Blue, Certain Young Men and Lovely Evening. That would fit with his probable intention of putting more gay writing on there. Probably something a bit less abrasive than Cock and will sell better.

As I have just posted on the Performers and Creatives Thread Daniel Evans was the guest on Private Passions on Radio Three yesterday. Well worth a listen: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0001m2b

Oh and I just remembered this...
Not sure we really need another revival of The Deep Blue Sea to be honest.

Especially as Amanda Root played the lead at Chichester only a few years ago!

The big musical has usually been leaked by now. So far nothing. Hoping for something back to form after this years lack lustre Me & My Girl - a huge missed opportunity. No transfer for this either despite Matt Lucas's premature tweet "congratulating" the production on securing a transfer - perhaps he was being sarcastic!

We have had lots of chat on the Musicals thread about the shows that may be on in the Festival but the vast majority of the season in Chichester are revivals and new writing. Blithe Spirit has been mentioned in passing but does anyone know anymore?

Oh how embarrassing, did they not get the memo that they were meant to do Macbeth last year? It's Midsummer Night's Dream that *everyone's* meant to be doing now!

If this is true, it's disappointing (to me), though means 3 productions I don't need to book for. Any more, however, & it won't be worth me renewing my membership.

John Simm will do Macbeth. Dir. Paul Miller, who directed Simm in HAMLET at the Crucible.

Can we just put a blanket ban on Macbeth for now? We’ve had too many productions and it needs to stop.
