I imagine this is part of another UK tour, about to be announced (although that article says Donny is only doing the Edinburgh run). Jason for the other dates? I'd probably go back and see it if they get Linzi Hateley involved. It says Only Uk dates so Could there be a US tour imminent? I think it says it’s Donny Osmond’s only UK dates. It then says: Producer Michael Harrison adds: “Following the extraordinary reception the Edinburgh Playhouse and thousands of theatre fans gave Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat at the end of the 2022 tour, it made absolute sense to begin the new tour here and to ask Joseph royalty, Donny Osmond, to star as our festive season Pharaoh.” |

I love Joseph. One of my all time fave musicals. I don't love the Lawrence Connor panto production and am slightly sad the show seems lumbered with it currently. For anyone that can remember the iconic Stephen Pimlott production, it's a massive downgrade in every aspect. It's such a joyous show that it more or less comes together in the end, but I find it in spite of rather than because of the production. Of course I recognise we are never gonna get anything as expensive and technically expensive as the Pimlott version in 2024. But my preference would be for another new version! Agree with all of this. It’s a little frustrating to watch knowing what you could be seeing instead. Linzi is probably the only way I would go back to this again. |

They've tweeted out the announcement and given a link to the UK tour website.
Donny is the only cast announced so far, and has it on the cast page as Edinburgh only.
Showing as more dates to be announced on the tour page, so looks like another full UK tour.

It was Linzi going into this that enabled me to (more or less) finally reconcile myself with this production's existence. I like Sheridan when appropriately cast but she wasn't vocally up to this and the endless "comedy" in lieu of SINGING the score drove me bonkers! Burke was a step up. But Linzi is clearly Joseph royalty. |

Was the Pimlott staging that much more expensive than the current one though? It toured the UK, including the revolve, so it can be done. |

I am confused.
They are using the original Palladium 1991 show logo for this tour.
This is the same logo as they used in the most recent Palladium production from 2021? Which was completely different.
But isn't this the touring Kenwright show which was on at the New London Theatre around 2004/5? which is ANOTHER PRODUCTION?
That was different from the UK Tour that was doing the regions for years and was a different logo and the 4th production?
They all use the same logo!!

I feel it’s the fact that he’s physically in the show again combined with the fact that HE IS JOSEPH given how many people will have seen/ grown up with the 99 film that does it to me at least |

I also love the gold in the logo particularly given how it was advertised as the 50th anniversary production Thats all very well in a world of rose tinted - wishy washy ‘kind of the same’, but it very clearly was not…neither in form nor execution. It lacked the overwhelming joy of the original production, and just felt like a cost saving conceit using the kids to play roles. Once Linzi came back on board it recovered some charm but quite why they didn’t just re-stage the original Pimlott version remains beyond me. |

It's FOH I feel sorry for. When I saw Donny in Pantoland at the Palladium, half the front row was filming him, and he was going along waving to them and saying 'hi!' into their phones. Staff trying to monitor that could have a problem or several!

3 more venues have been annouced on the tour dates page with those venues being Canterbury(22 Jan-2 Feb 2025), Belfast(18 Feb-23 Feb 2025) and Norwich(30 Apr-10 May 2025). But no further casting information as of yet. |

Joe is an interesting guy as out of all the people that came out of these shows, along with Gareth Gates he really does have a gorgeous voice that is perfectly suited to musical theatre. Very much the accuracy and range required and with a lovely tone.
Sadly neither of them can really act or dance. So beyond hamming it up in roles like this it was never to be really.
That said I thought Gareth was a stunning Marius and thought there was great potential there but he never really moved on to similar things.
Claire Richards of Steps fame is another one with an epic voice, not even MT trained at all but would be perfect - except, she also doesn't act! Am sure she could manage belting out The Narrator though and I'd love to see it.
