I'm surprised Joseph is going to the Theatre Royal Newcastle rather than the Sunderland Empire. I assume the set will be scaled down somewhat to make it tourable.

The Theatre Royal Newcastle is Michael Harrison's 'home venue', where he discovered his love for theatre, so I think his heart trumps the 500+ extra possible seats in Sunderland. He's started several of his productions there including Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Young Frankenstein and the upcoming Drifters Girl. Singin' in the Rain is also playing Newcastle rather than Sunderland.

Mayflower Theatre tweeted this
“Further exciting casting information will be revealed at a later date where the extra special performer confirmed to play the Narrator will be announced… 👀✨🌈”
Is it too early to get excited that it sounds like Linzi??

I’m praying it’s Linzi and that I can introduce the young uns of the family to such a quality performance (and have the excuse to go more than once myself!).

If the Palladium say Donny Osmond is the greatest entertainer in the land, this could be anyone at all.

What part of that makes you think it sounds like Linzi? It makes more commercial sense for it to be Alexandra Burke ot someone similar.

True, but the wording of "extra special performer" is unusual for a press release, and suggests someone more like Linzi Hately rather than a name "star".

True, but the wording of "extra special performer" is unusual for a press release, and suggests someone more like Linzi Hately rather than a name "star". I want it to be Linzi SO MUCH! but I just don't think it is!! It's a demanding role in the west end never mind on tour, and she is 50! Not saying 50yr olds can't do demanding things but you do slow down as you get older and I know she found taking extra shows on when Alexandra was sick, tiring. Maybe she'll do a few shows in Birmingham for her family, but I can't see it! Alexandra would be worth a look for sure, she was brilliant! But I saw her on soccer am the other day and she sounds like she's busy next year! Time will tell! I may be proved wrong!

Both Linzi and Alexandra are back, both doing different venues, each are being announced by the individual theatres, so it's hard to know who is going where currently lol But yay! ! ! X

For London based board members, Linzi’s doing Woking! Pretty reasonable ticket prices too.

NICE! I am eating my hat as i really didn't think she would do it.
I'm a huge fan, as you might have noticed, but i don't think i'll be going back to see her do it again. As great as it was to see her back in the role, in the Palladium, I think it's a terrible production. It's cheap, the kids as brothers, all the other roles the Narrator plays, the lowered keys, the lack of heart in the production. Having gone to see it twice over the Summer, at the first and final shows, I don't feel i can sit through it again. Linzi is great in the role and I hope lots more people get to see her in it, but if only we had a time machine and could bring back the 91 production, in the correct keys. At least in Woking you wont have Jason Donovan!
FYI very recently a video appeared on a well known site of Linzi and Phillip Schofield. Full Show. But it has parts of the opening of both acts, that i have no recollection of seeing at the time. Go watch!
