Antonio Banderas for Perón then!!!! One can dream :-) Btw the idea of a full blown West End production at the Palladium or Drury Lane - possibly the two most prestigious houses in London - as a “pre-Broadway tryout” is hilarious (/naïve/condescending/insulting depending upon intent). It was not intended to be insulting nor hilarious. The point was that London would be a testing ground to see if the show is working/creating buzz enough for a Broadway move. This was tried by American producers with the recent KISS ME KATE at The Barbican which I think, given the less stellar results, informed them why taking it Bway might not be such a great idea. But Antonio as Peron? Would love that!

Antonio´s wanted to do Perón, I know that. But there´s no way he´d get cast in the US given he is not Latin-American, and most recent casts of Evita in major US productions have been mostly or all Latin-American. Yeah, stupid considering how diverse Argentina was at the time, but oh, well

Very stupid. Exactly who would be gatekeeping this?!

No not at all. If you told them she is the 'Angela Bassett did the thing' singer then they may recognise her, but considering how poorly that went down I don't think it would encourage people to book. Plus wasn't her solo show a slow seller? I think they would definitely need a big name as Che to help fill the Palladium Exactly! Ariana will have extremely limited box office appeal for, what, a 12-14 week season in one of the biggest houses. However, Evita stands (or doesn't) on the casting of 'Eva' so I'm all for someone who can sing the s*** out of that score - and she sounds like she'd have no problem doing that at all. Surely, the way forward is Harry Styles (or a.n.other) as 'Che'! Could she sing it though? I don't know, it's just the thing that stood out with that Bafta performance she did (aside the cringe) was how out of breath she sounded.
