Any story I see posted this morning I always assume is an April Fool. I like Kerry, is this a cruel joke to get me excited and then dash hopes?

Looking at the prices that isn't pretty. I know I'll end up seeing this because I'm of the opinion that Kerry can do no wrong, but I sort of expected something a bit easier on the wallet for the Arts Theatre.

Don't worry, it is indeed a real thing!
The story itself sounds very interesting a concept, and if you are gonna open a new musical, you may as well have one of the biggest leading ladies in the West End to lead it! She has a lot of fans so it will sell well, at least for the first month or so which will give it a chance to settle in. I really love Kerry, having seen her in both her return to Wicked and in Cats, so I am very much looking forward to it!
Also will be interesting to see Kerry do a 1 Act musical, something I don't recall she has ever done?

I need to whip out the cast recording. I don't remember much of it except that it was a very audience involved performance with the actors performing right around them, between them, close to them, etc. If memory serves Will Swindon and Caissie Levy were in it. Time to find my external drive with all my mp3 files!

That's one hell of a promoter who will build a show around a 'star'. This won't be an easy sell, but I'll certainly be going to see it!

I'm intrigued by the enriched Vip experience with private bar and special guests, but it's £65! I think I'm more intrigued by the Friday 5pm matinee with a £35 top price

I must admit I thought that myself, so I looked for pre April 1st corroborating evidence before I posted. Not a good day to release news, it makes everyone suspicious, like a Daily Mail reader spotting a Burka at the airport.

Performances: 29th September - 29th October 2016, Monday - Saturday at 8pm. Friday and Saturday matinees at 5pm. Please note: Kerry Ellis will not be performing in Friday matinees. Quite important info for anyone booking specifically to see Kerry

I suppose being both Friday and Saturday matinees it can be quite tiring but still!

How strange that all of the initial announcements have December being the last performance whilst the Arts Theatre website lists only until October. I wonder if they had a planned extension to December set but accidently announced it too?

Wow.. Her career is really on the skids.
Is this the best she gets offered?

Wow.. Her career is really on the skids. Is this the best she gets offered? Are you saying that because it's at The Arts Theatre when she's become accustomed to major West End/tour productions and has become a "name" within the theatre community, and/or because you don't rate the piece? Genuine question, not a belittlement! Just because it's not a massive production in a massive theatre with a star cast doesn't mean her career is on the skids at all. Possibly the opposite - maybe she's in a position to take smaller productions that she really is interested in and about as opposed to needing to do another big show or album to pay next month's rent. Maybe it's a passion project between her and the production company. She's obviously a very skilled rock singer and maybe the intimacy attracted her to the piece. And hey, at least it's not with Brian May!! Though the full cast is yet to be announced... Don't get me wrong, maybe you're right, maybe work has dried up and she's taking what she can get. But I don't think it should be immediately dismissed as such.

Maybe she wants to be seen as a serious singing actress and not just as a high belter.

I have to disagree that this is a low point in her career. West End wise, she is very very successful, and I feel it will be increasingly challenging for her to find big projects that can match up stylistically and would be a good career progression. This is a small project yes, but its got interesting merits that would add a lot to her CV. I wouldn't imagine Kerry doing many big West End shows for a while until something probably custom-made for her lands on her lap

Well first of all it sounds terrible, and 2nd- it's at the Arts.. Where shows go to die. I've always loved her voice but I suspect she's hard to cast because she's not a very good actress. Wow.. Remember when she tried out on The Voice? Embarrassing for her so soon after Wicked. Maybe Kerry is just one of those types who doesn't care and will have a crack at anything. Good for her, if that's the case.

Good for her, if that's the case. I've no idea where I heard this from but I definitely did.....that going on The Voice was the idea of her agent and she wasn't actually that keen on it herself. Either way, hasn't really hurt her career in the long run. Dean John Wilson started out on Britain's Got Talent in 2008 singing Why God Why in a black vest....Simon Cowell stopped him as he hates the song!

I read about this and thought how appropriate the title was, given that I think she murdered every song I ever heard her sing... *ducks brickbats*

That performance was dreadful... -.- Why was she singing it alone? This song is a duet.
I saw murder ballad twice in New York with Caissie Levy and Will Swenson. I really liked it back then but I'm really not sure about Kerry in the lead...

Booked tickets for this with my friend on Friday evening. Not our normal sort of show so Kerry is definitely the selling point for us here, though the more we look into the show itself the more we are looking forward to it.

Just remembered this was happening in all honesty. How is it selling thus far? Kerry is the driving force to see this for me.
