I had initially resisted booking for this due to venue, ticket prices, and the fact the Leicester Curve production was so disappointing (Jasna Ivir was standing in for Lucy Schauffer, book in hand). But I thought the clips sounded promising, I managed to grab a cheap deal (although livid better, cheaper tickets became available the next day), and if it looks a fright I can just close my eyes and listen to that glorious score played by a proper orchestra. Cautiously looking forward to this one...

Matinee about to start, Dove off today, typical, was really looking forward to seeing her. However getting to see Renee Fleming and Alex Jennings will still be a treat and a half! Will update with my thoughts after the show.

Dove Cameron is off today, Molly Lynch is on for her. Sounds last minute. Good job I didn't know who she is!

Don't think she has a great track record for attendance, which is a shame as she is a stunt cast in this. Will be interested to see how she copes with 20 (!!!!) performances! Hardly a six month stint!

She has a chest cold apparently. And anxiety.

She has a chest cold apparently. And anxiety. The producer came on before the show. She came in this morning determined to go on but her throat is very sore. As it is Molly Lynch is doing a fabulous job.

Will update with my thoughts after the show. Im there too! Not too fussed about Cameron, ive never heard of her anyway. Jennings a class act as always. Fleming singing like an angel naturally. She's in a lot of outfits.

She has a chest cold apparently. And anxiety. After one performance, doesn't bode well for the US leg where she will presumably be a big draw.

I have no idea who Dove is so if there hadn't been a sign and announcement I'd have had no idea a cover was on!

She's in a lot of outfits. I agree, Jennings was actually the main draw for me, always wanted to see him onstage, he had some great laugh lines in the first half. As for Cameron, I'm the right age to have watched her a few years back on Disney Channel, She has a lot of charisma and is extremely likeable (and judging by the amount of teenage girls here I imagine there is a lot of disappointment) But yes if she has a sore throat at the start of such a short run it doesn't bode well!

There are even free tickets around for this show with just a £6.50 admin fee to pay, though they have all gone very quickly both times I received the offer. Happy with my front row seat for the £55ish I paid last month. I've mixed feelings about the commercial wisdom of these giveaway offers before a show has even opened. If I hadn't already booked, and knew that such deals were around, I'd hold off and await another offer. Where abouts is this offer?!!!

Dove had better not be off next Saturday, I'm only going to see her! (and to see what one of my favourite films is like as a musical, as I'd had no idea it had been made into one) At least I'll see Rob Houchen I suppose, I do like him.

Wow. I went in blind, the story is a bit simple in my opinion (but musical often are). It was difficult to connect with dome of the decidiond (trying to. Avoid spoilers) but I really enjoyed it. I didn't get a programme, is Mollie a listed understudy? The producer didn't make it sound like she is. She was superb. I spotted more mistakes from the mother than her and it was nice how much support she got from the rest of the cast at the bows. I only went because of the offer but am glad I did, if you get the chance go. Especially if Mollie is on!

Well that was an odd one. I will say first that the entire cast was absolutely superb, and it was a privilege to see them, especially Fleming and Jennings. Molly Lynch knocked it out of park and then some (from Twitter I gather some girls were in tears not being able to see Dove, somebody flew in from the US!) However, the plot and characterisation were so slight it didn't move or even really engage me at all. The score was magnificent though, I've never seen a full blown all American style musical complete with orchestra so I'm not sorry I went or anything.

Dove is out so often - this won’t be any different. Glad Molly is good as she’ll go on a lot.

Oh Molly Lynch was brilliant in the Sunset tour - I booked mostly for Houchen, Schoenmaker, and Tamne, but am now not-so-secretly hoping that Cameron is off when I see it as I had no idea that Lynch was covering her!

Dove will be there for press night...after that is anyone’s guess. Not sure how a work ethic like that is tolerated.
