It's also coming to Manchester's Palace Theatre later in the tour. No dates announced for this venue yet other than "Coming to this theatre in 2018" adverts in the Mary Poppins programme earlier this year.

With Manchester not on the schedule, tells us they are going to add more dates, so with Manchester, I expect this tour to take in: Plymouth, Bristol, Bradford/Leeds, Sunderland, Liverpool and maybe Aberdeen and/or Glasgow.
So this tour will go into 2019 and i guess Manchester will get the second Christmas sit down.

Yeah that's where all the big tours (where they stay for around a month) usually go to. It's surprising how big tours like this don't usually go anywhere close to London with the nearest always being Southampton. I understand why for this show as it was just in London but I'm surprised a show like Mary Poppins doesn't to say Wimbledon. I guess the stage isn't big enough there or something similar.

Can't wait to see this again, and with a good length of time in Birmingham I'll hopefully pop along a few times. In the case of Saigon, they had so many credible understudies in the show that it really wouldn't surprise me if they were given leading roles. Personally, I'd hope to see Marsha, Carolyn and Tanya as Gigi, Ellen and Kim, with Ethan as Thuy and maybe Hugh returning as John - but you never know as they may all have bigger things lined up...and Carolyn is booked with Wonderland....

Tours normally stay outside the M25 if there are ambitions to bring the show into the West End, in Billy Elliot case it clearly isn't going to play the West End again, so normally a tout will call to place like Wimbledon as you said George and places like Woking, Milton Keynes and Canterbury.
Mary Poppins could play Wimbledon, but hasn't been announced, so must be tentative plans to bring it back to the West End at some stage.

Both Marsha and Ethan are in Aladdin. Does the tour start a year, or after their contracts end? Oh i'm not sure. It probably will work out so they can join the Miss Siagon tour actually. I'd like to see Marsha again as i liked her in the show and i'd also be interested to see Ethan. I think he was the male pole dancer when i saw it and he made rather an impression on me

Yeah I forgot about Woking, that is also a good theatre local to London that showcases good shows. Wimbledon is in London though so that is ideal for shows wanting to visit the city. I am surprised Mary Poppins hasn't played somewhere like Wimbledon or Woking. It would probably be an ideal space to go to being near to London so either the theatres weren't available for a long period or they are hoping to take it back to London. If 42nd Street is only limited then hopefully MP will go into Drury Lane then

So a little bird told me that the UK tour will open in Leicester Curve with Eva Noblesada and Ms. Rachelle Ann reprising their roles.

I thought Eva has been tentaviley to open on Broadway. Yes, but only doing the opening of the tour before Broadway. When does the tour open?

I've been told this will be the essentially the 2006 "small" tour. Therefore no helicopter, just an extended projection.

I must be honest, I don't really know (like Billy Elliot) whether it's a good thing or not for this show to be filmed and released in cinema and DVD. Would it really still be worth then seeing the tour live afterwards?
Shows like Imelda Staunton in Gypsy I understand as it was a limited run and an iconic(ish) performance that probably won't be done again (except for the Broadway rumors)

Yes, I think it is fantastic promotion for the show. I feel like they have been "hiding" this show for the last 10 years, so a whole generation has no idea what this show is.
It's like they have to start all over again to introduce this show to the world (at least to the new generation), while shows like Phantom or Les Mis have several dvd's, movies and many more recordings out there, which make the show more legendary. It's all about exposure and promotion. If you have seen the Phantom 25th show on dvd, there is no reason not to visit the show in the West End anymore, because it's a different venue, different time and different cast. If anything, I think that that dvd only boosted the West End ticket sales. Same goes for the Les Mis 10th anniversay and 25 Anniversay dvd's. Considering how very well these shows are running at the moment.
People like to see something they are fond of or something they know that they love. I also think that general audiences don't buy dvd's, they just buy tickets for what is well known and well promoted, and "out there"/"in their face" if you will, and the fans who do buy it will get even more excited about the show.

I have seen the original London cast, the first cast change, the first tour, and the West End reboot. I'd see it again, and I would buy the DVD like a shot. It's a superb show and score.

^^^ the second tour was basically the West End reboot with a projection instead of a physical helicopter
