I saw this at the weekend and it’s a delight. A tad too long and we all just wished they aged him more at the start! Gosh that cast works hard. 4 stars from me. They need to cut 20 mins off it and give him a wig or something at the start!

It's all far too wonderful for anything to be cut in my opinion.
The 19.00 start time Monday to Wednesday means a finish just after 21.30. I'd like to see more shows do this. We were home in Kent 23.15 last visit

This show keeps escaping me this week -- I keep getting offered Dress Circle seats on Rush but the legroom is a legitimate concern for me as someone who has messed up knees...
Seriously, those seats are evil. E V I L.

I wouldn't wish those seats on my worst enemy - genuinely. Somebody really ought to take a look at them and sort them out - I would reject a seat in the dress circle after my own experience up there. Shame as the view was fab.

I was very grateful that my friend booked an aisle seat or it would have been an incredibly uncomfortable 2.5 hours for me last week!
I absolutely loved the show! Up there as one of my favourite musicals of the year. I've seen comparisons with Come From Away and Amelie (the UK version!), and I can see the connection although I think they did both have better songs. I will definitely be back for repeat visits.
Regarding previous comments on the leads voices; John Dagleish sounded very good on the night that I went. Clare Foster gave me the impression of 'actor who sings' rather than 'singer who acts' which I thought worked more than well enough for the role, although I sadly didn't see the previous leads to compare. As previously said, the ensemble are what make the show here, and they were all on top form.
The sound quality was a bit hit and miss with some lost lyrics unfortunately. I am getting a bit fed up of experiencing poor sound balance at what feels like the majority of musicals that I've seen over the past few months.

This has somehow got even better since its previous run at Southwark. Believe the hype when people label this one of the best British musicals in years. It really is a stunning, powerful and deeply moving piece of theatre.
John Dagleish is wonderfully understated, coming in to assume the title role from Jamie Parker. But it is Clare Foster, another newcomer into this company, who gives this show so much of its heart.
The pair have brilliant chemistry and, even at times when the audience is being asked to believe there are significant age gaps in their relationship, it feels entirely genuine. It is as much Elowen’s story as it is Benjamin’s.
The actor-muso company is magnificent once again. I really enjoyed the performances from Jack Quarton, Anna Fordham and Matthew Burns, in particular. Really enjoyed everything about this and will be back to see it at least once more before the end of its run.
Five stars.

Another beautiful performance today from this stellar cast. Note to creatives though - I appreciate it is just work to you, but sitting bobbing your head to the music and taking production notes in your pad in row F is really distracting to those of us sat in stalls row G behind you. We know you're really important but please remember your audience has paid to see the show (not you). Seat 3 in the box in dress circle was available and would have been more discreet than smack bang in the stalls.

Does anyone know if they’ve made any changes to this production since it opened at the Ambassador’s Theatre? Because I saw it earlier on (must have been previews) and disliked it, but saw it again today and f***ing loved it ♥️
I could swear they made some changes. For the better!

Yes, they are constantly reworking bits and fine-tuning, notably the second half incident with the youngest child. Some minor cuts and changes to both music and lyric.

I think the hope was that the reviews would pick sales up and they'd be able to extend the season? It's possible they're still holding out hope (but likely ATG is already putting feelers/has already arranged something in case numbers didn't go up as it seems they unfortunately haven't)

That would be such a shame

Oh, that a shame… I’d love to see this extend so that I have a chance to see it, had to swap my ticket for The Lehmans on the last day of the recent trip to see John Heffernan (I would do it again in a heartbeat) but if this extends it’s def on my list for the early March trip

Rush tickets have definitely become a lot harder to obtain compared to a month or two ago where they were still up at 1PM; I assume because it's leading up to Xmas and people are starting to go out for a cosy musical like this. Hopefully this will help it extend.
I still keep getting Circle tickets when I go for rush. No, no, no, no, no, no, NO! Just thinking about it makes my knees twitch.

Going to this at the weekend, based solely on the reviews given in here. Wouldn't have usually caught my eye to be honest, haven't read the book or seen the film so this will be my only exposure.

Now booking for an extra week until 22nd February. Previously had been booking until 15th Feb. Does this mean it's closing on 22nd?
