Tue 16 Oct 2018 to Sun 28 Oct 2018.
"From Award Winning Composer Scott Alan, comes a song cycle of his most acclaimed works, told through some of the greatest generational voices of the West End."
Cast: Andy Coxon, Adrian Hansel, Emma Hatton, Jodie Jacobs, Dean John-Wilson and Alexia Khadime.
Anyone see the first preview of this? Seems a very strong cast, so tempted to give it a go.

Andy Coxon at the Cockpit? That's way too easy no?
And DJW too? I'll hunt out the baby oil.

Oooh lovely, there's a gala night tonight! For £45 you get the show, a programme, some prosecco AND a Q&A hosted by Mark Shenton. God help the Cockpit if they aren't paying everyone minimum wage. He'll go apoplectic!

I decided to go to this last night and really enjoyed it. Lovely songs - new arrangements of existing Scott Alan songs, sometimes two sung in combination - in a fairly loose song cycle. The piece is staged, with a simple set, and performed in the round. Some of the time you are inevitably looking at a performer’s back for a while, but on the whole they moved about! It’s unreserved seating here, but good sightlines so I don’t think it matters where you sit. Gorgeous, perfect cast of six, all of whom it was a real treat to see up close. Ran to about 9:20, with interval. There was a Q&A afterwards last night, but I didn’t stay for that.
I think Ryan would have been disappointed at the so-called Gala, not very glam at all, although the composer was there and mingling in the bar. However, JDW is down to his boxers for a while. AC goes no further than baggy shorts.
A lovely evening of beautifully performed material. Oh - and there was a pug in the audience!

Well. Who knew Dean John-Wilson could act? I was momentarily distracted by some boxer shorts action (that man knows his audience) but he was actually rather touching. And nice to hear him singing in his own accent which I think is Northern of some description.
The rest of the cast are very good too. Andy Coxon has a very easy charm and the two gayers (him and Adrian Hansel) couldn't stop kissing. I almost told them to get a room. BUT it was really nice to see a normal happy gay couple without any tragedy or people hiding who they are. There's a bit of lesbian action to balance things out too. Jodie Jacobs was very funny too, rocking a headscarf like a 1950s char lady. For a moment I also run thought Lisa Scott-Lee had turned up but it turns out that it was really Emma Hatton. She didn't sing '5, 6, 7, 8' sadly.
I thought some of the songs sounded a bit samey but there's a lovely set, simple with a nice tree, a bench and a swing allowing Alexia Khadime et al to hang about like Joan Collins in 'The Stud'.
Those pecs are still a thing of wonder though.

I had to read this twice to understand what a generational voice is.

Loved this today. I already knew that Jodie, Andy and Alexia would be great but it was the first time I'd seen Emma, Adrian or Dean in anything and all six of them were superb. Great music with some lovely harmonies. A great showcase for the level of today's MT talents and definitely worth a watch if you can get there within the next week!

I saw this today, it was really cute. None of the songs sticked to my head afterwards but I enjoyed them all mainly because the cast was great. It's a shame it went kind of unnoticed.

I've always found Scott Alan's songs interchangeable, I hear one and think "oh its pretty good" and then three songs later I think: "Didn't they just sing this?" I can only take so much of his brooding self-indulgence. This show ain't "Songs for a New World" which is clearly what they were aiming for.

I was also there last night - a perfectly enjoyable evening, but it didn’t blow me away. I think Scott Alan is a much better composer than lyricist (although the more comedic numbers were very well written). There was too much ‘Disney princess’ talk at the beginning for my liking, but Act Two was stronger. The cast are brilliant though, and really make the most of the material. Jodie Jacobs steals the show as usual, and Andy Coxon and Adrian Hansel are adorable.
