Preview on Thursday, I hope. I know the rule is to be there very early as they overbook and a lot of people with preview tickets get turned away.
Last year, I had a ticket for one of the early screenings, which turned out to be the day after theatres/cinemas all closed. So that was really disappointing. Had I attended, I wouldn't have been allowed to talk about it, but as it didn't go ahead I presume I can mention it!
One of my favourite musicals so I hope the big screen version does it justice (and that the cinema gets a decent appreciative crowd in, not just people wanting a free film).

I went to a preview of ‘Cabin in the Woods’ a few years ago and was so elated at what I’d just seen that I couldn’t form words or sentences. I just kept saying ‘unicorn’ and ‘merman’ to the woman trying to question me. She wouldn’t let me take it away and write it.

I've never had a questionnaire at a preview screening, as the films editing has usually been completed, but I have been to test screenings, which are usually held months before a release date and before the final edit is done.

As I mentioned before this will be my first preview screening of a film so excuse me if this sounds daft but what is the point of them if they are not asking for people's views?
I understand a theatre preview as this gives the creatives the chance to tweet and change the show before press night but if a film is all ready for release what is the benefit of a preview.
I could understand if they invited people.who were active on social media so that they post and share to promote the film but I certainly don't fit into that category.
I'm really not complaining as thrilled to be able to see this film and before everyone else does but I'm just curious as to why they do them.

Went to preview screening last night and absolutely loved it!
Saw 3 times at Charing Cross, so noticed the changes made from stage to screen but these were solid choices & made sense for cinematic appeal but still very much has the core and heart of the original stage production.
Both ‘96,000’, ‘Blackout’ (the nightclub) & ‘Carnaval Del Barrio’ are such impressive & epic ensemble numbers (truly some of the best on screen since ‘West Side Story’).
The plot remains thin but this is truly about the good and bad communities face, relationships & finding your place in the world that is it’s core so a simple plot drives it to focus on these themes.
This feels like a big musical cinematic hit (it’s so wonderful to see), can’t wait to go see this one again!

I got an e mail from a company that I didn't really know of, they had this and also discounts on a few westend musicals. I can only guess it was via some mailing list. Guess they targeted musical theatre fans. |
