Maybe he was too distracted thinking up more ghastly merchandise to slap his and Terri Whatsonit's face on for his website to concentrate properly on the show. I thought you were joking until I had a look. mytheatremates.com/merchandise/I can't think of anyone I dislike enough to buy them one of those mugs!

Gutted about these reviews. I thought it was really enjoyable. But then I guess, I'm not an expert, just a regular audience member and theatre fan.

Well I think that if sales are poor and they do an offer then we should have a theatre forum group outing. We can all ask for tap water at the bar, refuse to buy an ice cream and tut at anyone looking at their mobile phones. Its got faults, but its a damm good laugh, some enjoyable songs and they have put together a great cast. Where else could you see Mssrs. Wilson, Lipkin and Boys on the same stage at the same time.
AND ITS GOT TAP!!!!!!

Such a shame there aren't any close personal friends of Shenton's in the cast. Maybe the director forget to sycophantically tweet that the cast were looking forward to his presence, and hope he returns soon xx have a lovely night etc.....?

Was I at a different show last night? I loved it! 4 stars from me. Sure it wasn't perfect and the showgirls came out too many times but I really laughed and was entertained from beginning to end. I'd even see it again. Super show! NUTS!

This seems to be selling very well. No cheap seats left, and I'm not sure I'll afford more. Sadly - as I'm on its side, for no particular reason.
What a double edged sword a star name is for a fledgling show. Great sales, but spotlight turned on full when tough reviews come in. BBC website summary and all.
Can't believe 1* from Mark Shenton. A rehearsal clip looked more than fine to me. He must be honest of course, and not just back a Brit musical for the sake of it. But that's savage.

I really don't get it how do the reviewers make the decision on stars and everything. This show was not THAT bad, and, for example, BILB was not THAT great the critics said.... But you'll never guess that basing on reviews!

Well I loved it so much I'm taking a group of mates to see it again. Really.. I think new original musicals should be encouraged!!! A one star review is plain wrong. BILB was awful!

How bad does something have to be before the "I think new original musicals should be encouraged" argument is negated?

Reviewers write for the people who read their publication. So yes, I should think readers of the Gay Times will like this... it has some cure guys in it.

Anne Cox (Stagereview) has given it 4 stars and I don't know what her readership demographic is. I'd certainly be happy to see it again, if there were still affordable tickets available and I could find a free slot.

The Metro's review this morning hit the nail on the head for me.
It's not perfect, there's potential, but it needs work! 3 stars, I think.

I would have said a lowish 3 stars (my Significant Other said a high 2 stars.) It was silly and fun and I didn't want to run from the theatre screaming nor did I nod off with boredom, so that has to be a 3 in my book.
Hey, they should use the above on their posters.

Well, talk about second act trouble. The Miss Atomic Bomb beauty pageant, centrepiece of the show, heavily foreshadowed during a long and random first act, HAS TO pull everything together, HAS TO be great, for the show to work. But it's not great, it's cheesy and awful. It's full of bad jokes and silliness and actors applying double doses of schtick in a desperate attempt to bring life to their empty lines; the pageant itself stopping and starting and restopping and restarting so that irrelevant strands of plot can be dealt with and finished off - as if we care!
I know this is harsh and I felt for each and every one of the actors - some of whom (Simon Lipkin) cope better than others - but this is a mishmash of unfunny parody (parody of what?) and grotesque caricatures that has no genuine through line, no point of view, and no heart.
What does it have? A relatively decent score, some amusing choreography and a vocally strong cast willing to go the extra mile, which, indeed, they have to do. But the book, the whole concept... yikes! How did it get past the table read?

Don't. Oh dear... I'm going on Saturday! Form your own opinion. As you will see from the tread its very divided but there are more people who liked it than didn't from the posts so far.

Many shows I've attended with low expectation after reading negative reviews online have been great. (And vice versa! *cough* In The Heights *cough*) In addition, I have PAID for the tickets, and I am too mean to throw away money I spent with the intention of having a nice evening.

Despite Gabriel Vick tweeting that a cast recording wasn't going to happen, given all forms of social media, does anyone if there is (anywhere) a recording of these songs?
