I remember from my program Jenny Garner also understudied Ruth and Celia. Not sure, but I think Shirley Jameson may have understudied two of Ruth, Jessie and Cora (?).

Just saw some pics of the set after the last two days dress rehearsal. The stage space is so small now with the field and wall/gate to the right of the stage.

Saw this in Leeds on Saturday.
Many changes to the Phoenix Theatre version which all work well. The new set is simple (more tourable than the cupboards!) and the script and minor song changes all work well. The cast are also all new.
The audience reaction was great. Worth catching on tour!

What was the audience demographic?

Female colleagues all went to Leeds last week to see this and none of them enthused, general opinion was that the play was OK and funny in parts but that the music was completely boring and unmemorable.

What was the audience demographic? Very mixed, with a slight female bias, but that's probably true of most shows!

I wonder if the name change might affect this? I imagine the film has a pretty good recognition factor when men whereas a musical called “The Girls” could have been offputtibg for some.

Similarly at the Phoenix, where the Gary Barlow factor was evident! Leeds was mostly couples, or small groups.

I'm the same! Flipped to it on the tube and immediately felt as though I was being judged just for looking at it!
I'm still sceptical about all of the changes that have been made but I'll obviously have to see it before I can pass proper judgement. I just really enjoyed the original production!

Not many ATG venues on the tour? Have they fallen out with Barlow?

Caught the tour in Newcastle tonight. There’s many changes from the West End production, but the show still has its heart.
Anna-Jane Casey the standout here, and Rebecca Storm also giving a fine performance. The remainder of the ensemble cast do a great job. Karen Dunbar’s Cora is a very different portrayal, and Denise Welch a very different Celia. More comedy and some parred down vocals, but more emphasis on the comedy. I guess without vocals like Machin and Dann it was the right move to make.
Yorkshire the opening number was very different, now sung mostly by Jon rather than the girls. If you’ve heard the Gary Barlow recording - it’s more like that. Dare is now restored in its rightful place as the act one closer! The change in London never quite worked for me so I’m glad about that.
Orchestra definitely sounded much smaller and didn’t have the same impact. The set it also much simpler but I guess it means they can tour rather easily.
So yes, a very enjoyable evening and the audience loved it, just not that rare spark of lightning that the West End production became for me

It was a very moving production in London and I couldn't really imagine it with a different cast. I'll definitely try to see it. Were the kids good? (Young adults playing the teenagers)

Yes!! Tommos part definitely seemed smaller but the young lad playing Danny was great and probably got some of the biggest laughs of the night.

I happen to be back in Scotland this week so will catch this at the weekend and report! Very nice surprise given how much I loved it in London.
Nice to be going to the theatre in my homeland too!

Caught this in Edinburgh tonight.
Unfortunately, for the most part, I wasn't very impressed. I really loved this in London but the tour was too different for me. The set was almost non-existent and the blocking and lighting made it look large and empty. It might just be because I liked the West End casting so much but apart from a more intimate performance of 'Kilimanjaro' Anna Jane Casey just didn't work for me as Annie. The whole production just felt like a big money saving venture. There is an 'orchestra' of five musicians with plenty of click going on too.
Thankfully, after the interval, the cast thrived with the comedy of the photoshoot and by the end I was just as moved as I was seeing it for the first time in London.
Saying all of this I think that it will be more enjoyable to those not spoiled by the original production. It did receive a standing ovation.
Two stars pre-interval and three after.
