Manage to get to see this yesterday. All this talk of will it, won't it extend forced my hand as my Winter/Spring theatre fest soon to come to an end for 6 months aside from odd mid week shows.
Overall impression was it was good, but not brilliant. I thought the script was witty and song lyrics well crafted. Where I struggled a bit was with the music. It seemed to bounce all over the place and for the most part was not very memorable. I got the felling Gary Barlow had sat down with a list of different styles of songs in a musical, and then proceeded to write a song for each.
I liked the way stage set worked although I still don't get what all the cupboards symbolised. Great cast performance who do a sterling job stripping off as they do. There is little left to the imagination.
We sat in Stalls row J25 and J26 which at the end of the row was lower £35 seats. Really good view from here and much better value than £70 adjacent seat.

Before the Take That concerts they are now showing The Band advert on the big screens. Nothing about The Girls though.

The crowds going to a Take That concert are more likely to be inclined to see a musical written around Take That songs.

True. It's just a new thing though, the first dates of the tour didn't have it.

There is little left to the imagination. I knew I'd read something about the cupboards in The Stage (https://www.thestage.co.uk/features/2017/charting-girls-journey-yorkshire-west-end/). This is a quote from Robert Jones: “I remembered my first visit to Burnstall village hall years ago, when we were researching the play. I saw a whole row of green cupboards – that was what kicked off the idea of recreating the Yorkshire Dales landscape out of these cupboards. I didn’t want a naturalistic look, I wanted to keep it abstract. I’d already tried to put a mountain on stage at the London Palladium, when I did The Sound of Music, and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

With all that free advertising on prime-time BBC One, I'm surprised that tickets for The Band aren't selling like hot cakes. I remember reading that Sonia Friedman wasn't very happy, because of course Harry Potter has never had a single second of airtime!

Sorry completely off topic (The Girls) but will anyone remember the lads who won this competition to be in The Band? I always think that they wait too long between the TV and stage show to maximise sales. By the time the theatre show comes along there is the latest X Factor or BGT winner taking all the media coverage.

Surprised this isn't performing st West End Live or taking part in Kids Week? I guess the latter wouldn't work because the show isn't really aimed at families but surely WEL would've been good marketing for them??

Claire Machin seems surprised that they're not, on Twitter, as well.

I'm very surprised its not. In fact I'm also surprised that The Band hasn't been squeezed in as part of the publicity drive.

Another great performance last night and a sham again that the upper circle is closed as has been of every visit of mine. That said I was a little concerned as to what the audience would be like, not bad behaviour but rather engagement, the audience seemed a bit timitd to begin with. That said, by the end of act 1 it seemed like everyone had been won over. To start with I was slightly concerned about Claire Moore and Sophie Louise Dann as, for both, their voices seemed a bit flaky. Saying that, you'd have never known during their big numbers and didn't hold back. Frazer Hadfield was on again for Tommo and really impressed me, in the space of month he has really grown into the character with so few performances. Josh Benson (normal Tommo) was in the audience a few seats from me and that just demonstrated how much of a loving cast this is, especially with respect to his onstage mother Claire Machin and fellow young counterparts Ben Hunter, Chloe May Jackson and Frazer Hadfield. Unsurprisingly, there was a full standing ovation.

Don't forget there's the upcoming West End Live. Surely that'll generate some interest and out some bums on seats. The Phoenix seats 1000 people, I don't think there will be enough 'bums' in Trafalgar Square to keep this show afloat. They must've heard you and decided not to bother

Just over 500 seats out of 1000 sold for tonight's performance and still no announcement about extending the show in a mere seven weeks. Heard a rumour about a touring show being interested in an Autumn slot at the Phoenix.

Oh gosh, I'm preparing myself for The Girls to close in July, but I'm deep down hoping it won't. If it is sadly replaced, I hope the replacement show is of high budget, not something mediocre of easy seller status.

Oh dear. I do want to see it - hopefully I will manage before it closes. Maybe Claire Machin will do the Titanic tour now, or have they already cast that?

Sad but they've just not been able to get bums on seats. I guess this is why they're not bothering with west end live

Closing in July. I must have words with my source - I was assured that it was 100% extending! My apologies folks.

I wonder what'll happen to the planned Cast Recording. It'll probably go ahead I guess as the tour is happening.
