Matinees seem to be selling OK (ATG website) - they are dropping Monday nights and doing an extra matinee weekly from the last week of April. Lots of availability for evening performances during the week. I suppose it depends on the running costs of this show as to how long it survives. Cannot see it surviving a cast change. If they do a cast change (and they need to) they could easier have some names play some of 'The Girls'. Not huge celebrities but household names

I wonder how it's doing as compared to Half a Sixpence? Both shows, it would seem, cater to a similar audience but, perhaps, there's only room for one in the West End in this very competitive time for musicals?

The producers must be praying it wins the big one on Sunday at the Oliviers! This much discounting sovearly in the run doesnt bode well. It will do well to get to xmas at this rate. Curse of this theatre again?

[quote author=" martin1965" source="Curse of this theatre again? There are never cursed theatres, just poor or average shows that for whatever reason fail to find an audience. Three theatres used to have terrible reputations but then along came the hits; New London- Cats/War Horse, Shaftesbury- Hairspray/Motown and Cambridge- Matilda. Put a decent show in any theatre and people will find it.

Just had a look at the September extension and the prices are quite frankly disgusting! No wonder this show will fail at the box office if something doesn't change. All of the dress is top price, and all bar the back row of the Grand Circle, which is £29.50, is £49.50. Do they seriously think people are going to pay £50 a ticket to sit in the Grand Circle when a little bit more will get a better view and experience closure to the stage? Quite frankly, their line of 'we aren't doing dayseats because we offer good seats with good sightlines' cannot apply anymore, and it's good they are offering dayseats on 'some days'. Realistically, who are they targeting? Are they hoping to sell fewer tickets per week to make their money? To be frank, if tickets are priced like this through the earlier months of the extension, I predict we will see bigger offers and this show not even make it to September.

It's dynamic pricing though. The producers try their luck with high prices in the future and then if they are not sold discount them nearer the performance. I find it is almost a full time job finding the ticket deals. Sometimes it pays to buy long in advance and at other times right at the last minute and everything in between, as well as comparing the official theatre box office sites and offers such as Today Tix. lotteries and day seats. A casual theatre goer would never do this and buy (or not) the ticket at the price offered when they originally look to book. I agree this must put off a huge amount of people when they see a Upper Circle ticket for £50 (with restricted view due to handrail!)

But you would've thought that, even with dynamic pricing, they would realise that the current pricing strategy isn't working. Surely they should make the Grand Circle much cheaper to thereby guarantee selling more seats at a lower price to a large extent in the long term, rather than hoping a last minute ditch in price to a lower level will boost already bleak sales? Or add some bargain seats in the stalls. Realistically I don't see why anyone would want to book at those prices. Even if the casual theatregoer or someone who has never been before was to google "The Girls musical tickets", chances are they were see one of the websites that are doing offers, check in there and if there are no offers for the dates they want maybe wait to see if something that is better value comes up that what ATG are offering.

Atleast they are doing some £20 tickets now. Tbh if we weren't offered them the other week we would have gone to see something else.
It seems online they offer them at £29.50 in the front row and at the sides also for the remaining performances this week. TKTS also has some good deals (59.50 tickets down to £35

Is their twitter run by a Barlow/Take That fangirl, who should a said "fan middle aged woman", because they just seem so desperate and unprofessional.
It's not even like their running out of characters in this tweet. I wish they would do one of those cast takeover things because, you never know, they may produce some tweets that consist of coherent grammar and punctuation.

It's obviously being operated by a halfwit.
I mean, if someone can't spell or doesn't know grammar thats ok. It might not be their fault. But just don't put that person in charge of your twitter maybe?

Both shows, it would seem, cater to a similar audience but, perhaps, there's only room for one in the West End in this very competitive time for musicals? Id disagree. People want choice. Especially the target audience with disposable income. Once they've seen one, then what do they do in a few weeks/months when they're looking for another evening out, just go see the same show again?
