Just out and thought it was a nice show. Very funny abs for me all the leading players were excellent. Amber was definitely a surprise. I can see her having a very successful future. I loved Natalie as I knew I would. Caroline excellent and I'm sorry to say I don't know how Louise can really better her, or Indeed, I can't see her playing it at all.Bonnie and Brian were also excellent and hilarious.
I didn't love a few of the more minor speaking roles though. I know we had some understudies for those roles but no clue who I'm afraid.

Gosh why is this a thing in theatres these days? Am I looking back through rose tinted glasses or did this just never happen in the 80s and 90s!? Makes me think I'll go for a matinee when I see this! Unfortunately seeing a matinee doesn't necessarily help. I saw Mamma Mia at a midweek matinee a few years ago & still found myself stuck behind a drunken hen party singing along. Quite how anyone manages to get drunk by 3pm on a Thursday I do not know. I complained to the FOH staff in the interval & was allowed to move elsewhere for Act 2. I imagine that this show will similarly attract the hen party type groups. |

Just out and thought it was a nice show I DO NOT believe this! Andy, I was at the same performance this afternoon, sitting right behind the conductor on the front row, as it happens. Interesting to note how many click track cues there are - could see the score over his shoulder. Really liked this a lot - Bonnie Langford is a marvel, and I appreciated a show that made excellent points but didn't beat you over the head with them. More on my site if anyone wants to know more. Did find the audience a bit quiet, which was odd. Women either side of me equipped with a bottle or two, but kept it civil - more than the crisp eater in the row behind... Oh no! We keep missing each other! I was up in the second row of the dress circle, which was a great view. Yes indeed Bonnie was excellent. |

Aren't there tickets from £20 though? Just do what I do and get 10 mates together for each show then you get group rates. We saw this last night front stalls for 32.50. It was a fun night out and total fluff but I much preferred it on Broadway ten years ago. Casting in this show from leads to ensemble isn’t spot on. Still a bubble gum night out and we enjoyed it 6/10 I feel the same! This was an enjoyable night out but it didn’t particularly wow me in any way or make me want to come back a second time, but it way exceeded my early expectations! I’m not gonna say she won’t do a good job, but it’ll be interesting to see how Louise does if/when she steps back into the role. Caroline Sheen does a great job! |

I saw this last week and it was ok for what it was, though Brian Conelly seemed to be in a different show, hamming up it like panto.
Amber Davies was a pleasant surprise and liked her voice a lot. I wasn't expecting her to be as good as she was, though her acting could use a little work, although maybe that's how Judy is written.
I was up in the cheap seats for the first half and the audience were something else.... the family behind me all brought in large paper bags of pick and mix and rustled them ALL the time. After about the second song i had to turn and ask them if they were going to make that noise through the whole show and 1 of them said, yes, probably!
I asked and got moved to a dress circle seat for the 2nd half.
I enjoyed it, but i don't need to see it again.

I think this show is the kind of show you see once, its pleasant enough but not something you would return to.

Two examples above of customers being moved to accommodate noisy/badly behaved audience members rather than FOH actually tackling the cause of the problem. In other words keep selling the booze and move anyone who complains about the outcome. Is this Savoy policy?

Not many revelations in the ITV show last night, although it was interesting that they were very much talking about Louise as having left the show, there was no suggestion of it being a temporary thing, although I guess they maybe weren't sure at the point it was being filmed.
It did show how professional Caroline Sheen was to step into an established company and learn a big role with very little rehearsal time.
Amber's story felt a little contradictory... She kept saying how much she wanted to be treated as a serious actress and a West End star, yet the creative team were quite open about the fact she auditioned via video and clearly had some special treatment because she was a 'name'.

Click Track. Can you explain how this works? Well, for this, he had each song on separate sheets of music manuscript. As the song was due he moved it from the pile on one side of his music stand to in front of him. Thus I could see what was on each sheet before it was needed. The sheets were marked with orange highlighter "Click 1, 2, 3, 4" with the orange going down to the specific note in the bar of music. As they reached that note, he would press a green button on a small box installed by his left hand. Then the other button on the box, a red one, to stop it. It was noticeable how much fuller the orchestra sounded each time he hit the green button. So, that's what I observed, anyway. Could have it all wrong of course, LOL. A Click Track is just a simple ‘beep...beep...beep’ (a metronome) to get live played instruments and pre-recorded digital tracks to sync at the same time and play as if it was one live orchestra. |

I thought he was cueing some sort of extra sound recording, is that right, then westended ? You are kind of right theatremonkey.com , the click tracks makes sure extra sound recordings start playing at the same time as the live orchestra do. The highlighter the MD used was probably telling him how long the tracks had silence before music started so that the live music would all be cued at the same time. I hope you understand! |

I've just finished watching it. It reminded me of the 'Winner's Story' documentaries they did for the winners of the BBC casting shows, where they followed Connie/Lee/Jodie/Danielle on the journey to the opening night of their respective shows. Amber moaning about the press attention annoyed me - if you're famous for being in a TV show which focuses on people's love lives, then the press will be interested in your love life after the show! It did sound as if Louise had left the show altogether. I thought Caroline Sheen seemed nice in her bit to camera. I wonder how many people auditioned for the role of Judy? If Amber was offered the role based on one song, performed in a video (rather than being seen in person), that does seem risky. |

It's called not having classes on Friday and you want to get the weekend started earlier which is exactly what I did back in my college days. |

I tend to agree with you, Amber's 1.6 million Instagram followers and 373K Twitter followers give a big target audience. Even if you take under 1% of the 1,6 million then you have say 10 to 15K of people who might fancy seeing the show. CHF has 508K on Instagram and we know the size of her fanbase although to be fair CHF is more You Tube based and has a proven West End and Number 1 tour leading lady resume. But you could see the producers looking at the size of Amber's online following and thinking the can target them. Also in praise of Amber she has taken on a sizable role and hasn't go onto the "celeb" circuit like some of her Love Island cohorts. |

Two quick questions:
- Are they selling the OBC in the theatre (have downloaded it but would like the CD which is over £100 on Amazon)?
- Anyone heard any rumours of an OLC in the pipeline?
(I guess even if they did wanna do one, which these days seems unlikely, they would have a dilemma as to whether to use Caroline or Louise Nurding!)
Anyway, would quite like a CD with this cast and which represents the musical changes since Broadway.
