Well worth listening to Bonnie and Amber on Graham Norton's Radio 2 show this morning. Their bit started at 11.30am, so about 1 1/2 hours in. Very interesting to compare the old and the new side of the business.

I can just see all the confused tourists seeing this from a distance and running to the box office for a chance to see Dolly Parton live.

agree although no different to advertising for the tour a few years ago Although technically Dolly did appear in that production. she was never in the Broadway production though, her cameo started in the US Tour so I wonder if this production will follow suit of the UK Tour or whether they will follow more closely with the Broadway production. I much prefer the opening number as it was done on Broadway.

Dolly is the producer or one of them so the advertisement isn't technically wrong. One of the Bill Kenwright plays a couple of years back was advertised that Roy Marsden was leading the company when he was actually the show's director!

The advertisement is not wrong but it is definitely confusing, and I'm sure some tourists (or even Londoners who are not really into theatre) will be tricked.

The advertising is utterly disingenuous. Tawdry.
Even if it said in bold capitals "Dolly Parton's 9 to 5" it would be acceptable. But clearly a lot of punters will book for this thinking she's in it and now they won't even get Louise Redknapp.

None of the names in this show are selling it other than Dolly Parton and 9 to 5.

Yeah I know that but it looks like it's designed to make people think Dolly's in it. And she isn't, hologram / video or whatever aside. Tacky tactics in my opinion.

In all fairness, she is the composer and one of the producers. They put Lloyd Webber’s name above most of the shows he composed and produced and no-one expects to see him in it.

ALW is not a performer. DP is. So - in all fairness - the two are not equivalent.
Putting a performer's name that big on the poster is sending a mixed message - at best.

It is definitely misleading. I would not be surprised if they did not approach DVO. At least she would be a recognizeable name.
And what is with the pantsuit? No way women wore that then.

That is an excellent point. We are all going on about the name above the title, no one is talking about the costumes completely misleading the setting and time. Some 25 year old women are gonna go out expecting some 2010's nightclub romp based on those clothes.

Why does DVO have to be in everything? I keep reading her name in different threads.

Just something vaguely 'business chic' they could get them in quickly to get some posters out.

I think the issue with the poster is the size of the font of Dolly Parton. I never thought I would be discussing the size of Dolly Parton's font!!

I think they would have been better to advised to promote it as 'Dolly Parton's 9 to 5' - or '9 to 5 - The Dolly Parton Musical' - the ambiguity of the current presentation is just too great to be acceptable.

I remember something similar with the original Broadway production of The Color Purple. Oprah's name was on either end of the marquee - with The Color Purple on the front - and 'presents' in small type on the corner. I can't find a picture from the front of the theatre - but this is what it looked like as you walked up Broadway to the theatre.

Im not even kidding, this was the exact same marquee I was searching for earlier as an example! I just didn't know how to insert the image. 😂

Caroline Sheen is apparently taking over from Louise until she returns in March.

I’ll go then if that’s the case. Surely this will have to amend all the underground posters for the interim period though.
