It's a bit like a horse race isn't it with 4 big musicals opening virtually simultaneously - 9 to 5, Come From Away, Only Fools and Horses and Waitress! So lets open a book on which will run the longest? Can anyone understand odds?

Prices have soared for this post opening. I was helping a friend try and find good seats and the row c seat I paid £59 for last Saturday is £150 for this weekend!

If they haven’t seen it ont’ telly or with someone from ‘Celebrity Sheepdog Trials’, its chances of success diminish greatly. |

Both 9 to 5 and Only Fools are shows that are designed to just get the tourists in, milk them for a buck and then give them an enjoyable, if slight, experience. *cough* 42nd Street *cough* Sorry. Tap shoe in my throat. As you were. |

Nothing wrong with a show aimed at tourists, not even anything wrong with a show as insubstantial as a soap bubble, if people want to see the show and enjoy seeing the show. Theatre snobbery is boring and it's okay to not want every show to be Cyprus Avenue.

I can recommend the front row (BB) for 9-5 as being good value. It was initially being sold as day tickets but is now bookable online so there is reasonable availability. Price £65 weekdays with a look up warning but the stage really isn't that high. I think row A and B may be the same price but won't be easy to find seats there. Prices increase row C and back. Saturday prices are usually higher and previews lower, plus I think think 9-5 will be the most commercially successful of the 4 recent openings and the promoters will understandably cash in on its popularity. |

I had only looked at the Savoy Theatre (ATG) website for the first week in March and there was front row availability Monday to Thursday. Looking again I can't find any on Saturdays. A lot of stalls seats Monday to Thursday are currently priced at £65, and £69.50 on Fridays and Saturdays, which is less than in many other London theatres. |

Amber, Bonnie and Brian on This Morning plugging the show today. I wonder how much Amber's profile and Social Media following has helped boost ticket sales. We were skeptical about her being cast at first but her reviews have seemed to be fairly positive, I wonder if she could almost be the next CHF type joint performer/social media star.

Just out of the matinee - I enjoyed it. Natalie McQueen is brilliant in this, I enjoyed her more in this than Kinky Boots - this role suits her perfectly. Caroline Sheen was also very good, and Bonnie Langford was great as Roz. Rhiane Drummond was good, but clearly nervous which is understandable. The final chorus of Get Out and Stay Out was mostly flat and I felt she could have given it more acting wise in that song too.

Mostly restricted view seats or seats that are a bit too far up for my liking. Considering they were charging a lot less a few weeks ago and now they're significantly more expensive plus a huge step up in price from Dreamgirls.

I liked it, but didn't love it.
As others have said, this is selling well, so I saw this last night from one of the £20 seats. Dress Circle G1, which is sold as restricted view. The restriction is barriers blocking the bottom right of the stage, but you can see through them. There's no one in front of you, so you have a clear view down the aisle. There's also extra space to your right before you hit the side railing there. So, a very good seat for the money.
A downside is you're right near the usher and the exit, so you get distracted by every person opening the door to nip in and out and you hear the usher's radio everytime it goes off.
(this is all based on dynamic pricing, many nights it's a lot more and there are better alternatives available)
There was a rowdy section of the audience further back in the Dress. Lots of clapping along with songs at odd times, yelling out random comments etc. Little singing thankfully. One phone going off. Quite a few people complained to the ushers in the interval and got moved and I believe the rowdy (drunk?) section got a warning and drinking ban as well.
As to the show. It's exactly what you'd expect. A bit of fun. Some of it would be offensive if it wasn't considered as a period piece (although the largely older female in the audience seemed to be having a great time and weren't offended in the slightest). Cast is good (I presume all the leads were on as I couldn't see a cast board anywhere). There's a bit too much prerecorded Dolly singing for my liking, but people again seemed happy with that.
One gun shot (and lots of gun waving). Mentioning it as I don't recall seeing a trigger warning anywhere.
And Bonnie is great.
Not one I'd rush back to, unless there's a good deal to see this from the Stalls, but I know this will sell well. My hint is to keep an eye on the dynamic pricing for the best deals.

Gosh why is this a thing in theatres these days? Am I looking back through rose tinted glasses or did this just never happen in the 80s and 90s!? Makes me think I'll go for a matinee when I see this! |

I hope this tours again because those ticket prices are extortionate. Aren't there tickets from £20 though? Just do what I do and get 10 mates together for each show then you get group rates. We saw this last night front stalls for 32.50. It was a fun night out and total fluff but I much preferred it on Broadway ten years ago. Casting in this show from leads to ensemble isn’t spot on. Still a bubble gum night out and we enjoyed it 6/10 |
