Ugh, that man. I just think he should be in everything playing every role. I wish he's come over to do more concerts, he was brill last time.

It's Laura Osnes. I normally can't stand her but I have to say this is a good recording.
As for Jeremy Jordan..no. Just way too much. He over does it all.

Personally, i found it more emotional and raw than any of the actual people playing the role though. It doesn't usually make me feel that much honestly.

If this ever came over who do we think should be cast? I think to sell the most tickets+have top talent they should bring over Sara Bareilles, Keala Settle and Jenna Ushkowitz. Sara I’m sure would love to bring her show over to London and do the role for a bit, it’s not like either of her Broadway stints were very long were they? Plus I assume she’s quite well known over here(?), I don’t really know the pop scene but I remember hearing Brave on the radio quite a lot whenever it was released. Keala I think could potentially bring a LOAD of people in after Greatest Showman, I mean that voice! I’m not sure if she’d definitely want to return to this supporting role now that’s she got all this newfound fame but then she might like to make her London stage debut if only for a limited run and Sara could potentially write another solo number for Becky. Jenna I can see selling some tickets too, I’m sure us Gleeks are still there somwhere, I’m not saying she’ll put as many bums on seats as Amber Riley did in Dreamgirls but she’d sell more tickets than an unknown MT actress.

Keala I think would be quite the draw over here, she’d be a great person to have on all the tv shows to promote it since the British public are familiar with her from Greatest showman.
Jenna is quite a versatile role really, just think of how amazing someone like Emma Williams could be, I know she reads older usually but those vocals would be 😍😍
Edit to add: Keala Settle is now number 1 on the uk iTunes chart! What an achievement!

I’d said before Sara should come over with this because she’d be pretty marketable with her fair amount of fame in the UK plus the fact that she’d be both composer and star but I’d also love to see Jessie come over. I didn’t really get the hype from listening to the first few tracks of Beautiful but after listening to the Waitress recording I’m in love. She made me cry with She Used To Be Mine, she seems to just blend the acting and vocals so brilliantly. I really really hope we get news about a transfer soon!

I think Waitress would work best in London if it was limited season (for summer or Christmas?) but then it could tour. I think if it was an open run, it would struggle if there wasn't a celebrity. I think the Piccadilly or Gielgud would be a good fit. What does everyone else think?

I don’t think it should be limited run, they should open it with someone famous and then see how it does after they leave. I think it would probably be best to open with someone who has a degree of “celebrity”, maybe Sara, maybe (dare I say it) Sheridan Smith. I’d been thinking this could have been a lovely role for her in the past but then I found out Sara is 38, Betsy Wolfe is 35, Katharine McPhee is 34 and Jessie would have been 32 when she did it (Sheridan is 36). It doesn’t seem to be a huge sing, definitely not more of a sing than Funny Girl, and Sheridan could act this heartbreakingly I’m sure and we know she can get the audience in. It would be great/profitable to open it with Keala Settle reprising her Becky role (sorry I’m repeating from upthread here).

Vocally, Sheridan would be very wrong for this role. I’d prefer to see a Strallen as Jenna or as it has been suggested, Sara. No one knows the role better and she could really sell the character here, showing her successor how it should be done Whilst we are dream casting, I’d like to see Marisha Wallace as Becky, considering the Dreamgirls train could be running out of steam, Tanya Manalang as Dawn and Jordan Fox as Dr. Pomatter. Now that I would pay top dollar for!

Ooh yes please! I love Ogie, and I though Harry was very good in Barnum.

It would be lovely if Sara originated Jenna in London,, even if not for long, but if it’s going into a theatre which does premium seats, the prices will be a joke.

The worst that could happen is we find out that Bill Kenwright is the producer of the UK production, and it will star Sarah Harding as Jenna..

If it has to be cast with a 'name' in the lead role then there must be a music artist over here with a background in musical theatre who could take on the role? There's no reason why stunt casting has to be bad. Or why not cast a name as Jenna's love interest as it's a bit less of a big sing? All hypothetical of course but I am desperate for this to come over.
(Of course I'd prefer a Musical Theatre performer in the role but I'm not adverse to names so long as they can do the job. And all the supporting cast will be from a musical theatre background anyway you'd think)

I've heard one of the ex-green girls auditioned for Jenna a year or so ago. Whether or not it was for the US productions or here, remains to be seen, but she is in the mind of producers it seems.

Does anybody else think they’d get away with a stunt cast for Ogie? Not a huge sing and generally speaking I’d say it isn’t an overly tough pair of shoes to fill

I was just thinking do u think they will want this open before the Oliviers next year. We need a big musical from BWAY for this year and it will save me seeing it when I'm in New York next year. If it hasn't come over by xmas I'll see it in New York. But I think this will do really well over here and the Piccadilly or Safsbury would be perfect venues for this musical. With Sarah or Sheridan as they will sell tickets. Really hope we get an announcement for this and Anastasia and Dear Even Hansen sooner rather than later

I think that was for the Broadway production, but she'd be fab. R.e. Sheridan, I love her but this isn't really a show which I'd pair her with personally. She'd act it wonderfully but I'm not sure her voice is right for it?
