According to Baz, the Crucible's Christmas musical this year is Kiss Me Kate starring Rebecca Lock as Lilli Vanessa and Edward Baker-Duly who is currently in The King and I as Fred.
Seems a popular title with the Opera North production that was at the Coliseum and on tour as well as the upcoming Broadway revival.

Though with the title of the show, he's using it as a hashtag which means it can be found by anyone also using or searching that hashtag. If he included the comma into the title, that would break up the hashtag and wouldn't "work" properly. Whether he would use the comma if he wasn't hashtagging the show's title is another matter! |

Don't worry, tonyloco. I can confirm that Sheffield Theatres know it's Kiss Me, Kate. (Though it did struggle with Caryl Churchill.) For the record, although this casting news is...new, the actual production was announced earlier in the year, and tickets have been on sale since March! |

Someone posted in the Heathers thread when the transfer was announced that Rebecca would be leaving early (beginning of November) - I imagine she’ll be going straight from Heathers to rehearsals |

Saw this last night - second performance - and despite loads of mistakes, it was really good.
Great performances from the whole company and some really really good dancing and choreography. The chorus numbers are terrific - athletic and classic.
Biggest surprise of the night was how good a dancer Dex Lee was - he was brilliant! Somersaults and everything...
I also loved Amy Ellen Richardson as Lois. Between them, they have the best smiles in theatreland!
Wigs fell off, props were missing, Petruchio fell over, some scenery nearly hit a cast member, loads of lines were missed (especially in the Shakespeare section) & Rebecca Lock had to restart a song and it was 3 hours long!
But I still went home smiling and singing! A great reception from the (very busy) audience too!
It’s a proper ‘classic’ musical done really well.

I agree with the above, I also saw it last night, an insanely enjoyable musical, that has an eleven o’clock number to rival ‘sit down your rocking the boat’ from the great Guys and Dolls, in ‘know your Shakespeare’ if this doesn’t get your feet tapping you have probably died.
Even with the 3 hours and mistakes made as pointed out above, this is the type of musical you can get away with it, ‘We Open in Venice is one of my all time musical number favourites - ‘Tom, Dick and Harry,’ ‘I Hate Men’ and ‘Too Darn Hot’ are also great musical numbers.
Well if this show doesn’t give you a kiss, it will certainly give you a great big hug.

It is one of the best scores of all time. Classic after classic. Yes, it is a long show - but the quality and story justifies it.
One I would love to direct at some point

This may be common knowledge, but they've released two additional rows of seats at the front of the stage.
There's a link from the main Kiss Me Kate page on the Crucible website to book them (if you use the main link to book seats, the extra rows don't show).
Look to all be priced at £15. Managed to grab a front row seat over the Christmas period.
Just raising this in case anyone has booked the "old" front row and will now find they're in the third row. I know how annoying it is when that happens to me.
Also, there's very good availability for those seats, which makes me think that most people haven't cottoned on yet.

I'm obviously broken, because I was bored and looking at my watch a lot. There were some decent songs, and I liked So Darn Hot (although I have no clue what Layton Williams was singing) but there were quite a few songs that could have been cut imo, and I have no idea what happened at the end because I couldn't hear any of the lady's lyrics in that last song. I thought the story was dreadful. The cast were good, and really gave it their all, but I didn't find it particularly funny, and couldn't name one of the characters now.
