I spontaneously saw Wicked tonight to catch Alexia without realising it was the 17th birthday.
Alexia Khadime is one of the best Elphaba’s I’ve seen. What a portrayal, what a voice.
Really enjoyed it tonight, overall show seems to be in good shape actually. I’m sure they’ve been tweaking the sound, there was definitely some changes since I last saw it in January, not sure if anybody else feels the same?

The only thing I can figure with Amy is that there must be some sort of situation that limits her ability to perform and the creative team is aware and okay with it and supports her. There seems to be no other explanation. By the numbers, Kate has done almost as many shows as Amy this contract and Kate and Nicola combined have done FAR more than Amy. Amy’s attendance rate is in the 30s this contract… it really is like there are just three rotating understudies at this point. Numbers like that… whatever it is that means she’s almost never there, the producers must be supportive. It’s so baffling that she stayed on top despite all these absences. The producers must be incredibly supportive. She’s one of the weakest Elphabas that I’ve seen too.

I’d love to see Alexia but she is so frequently absent that I think the only way I could guarantee catching her would be to book her final scheduled performance, once the date is announced.

Bring back Laura Harrison, she never let the team down! Going on reliably and being any good are two different things (IMO)...

Personally I saw Laura afew times as Elphaba and she was always great and also as Nessa. She went on a lot in the winter months last year and there was alot of sickness going around.

she's also the only person in history to go on as Nessa AND Elphaba in one show. I think she is brilliant

Fair enough - I nearly went home in the interval when I saw her so you evidently saw a good day.

I saw her multiple times and was great. With the pressure of the role, all Elphabas have off days...you just have to listen to some of those bootleg cracks on youtube from across the years!

Fair enough - I nearly went home in the interval when I saw her so you evidently saw a good day. This may be the one time we disagree. I loved Laura’s Elphaba. I made the mistake of seeing her and then seeing Amy Webb who made me want to leave in the interval with how bad she was. But it was a friend’s birthday and I was obligated to stay in my seat and endure it.

The show was incredibly flat generally, the sound the appalling, and she was just so uninspiring. I had decided to go back to give Lucie Jones a try (she was off, unsurprisingly), but the chap Ryan Reid playing Fiyero was appalling, and Glinda couldn’t buy a laugh. Seeing similar mediocrity about four years prior put me off Wicked, I gave it another try, and can safely say I can’t see a circumstance where I’d go back short of some truly stellar star casting (which will never happen). Maybe Gina Beck as Elphaba would do it.

Finally managed to get to London to see it.
Alexia sounds devine.
Ryan just seems to be a bad actor, it feels like he's just reading the lines without any emotion to them.

Saw this yesterday, I first saw it about 15 years ago, then about 10 years ago.
It's aged so well - I still love it.
Had an amazing cover Glinda on - she was perfection. Elphaba was incredible.
The only let-down was Fiyero - who was a 2nd cover and really didn't hold up well. Acting was okay, but his voice isn't strong enough and especially when singing duets he's just overpowered.

Saw this today for the first time since Rachel Tucker was Elphaba and I was quite pleased. I thought Alexia Khadime and Lucy St Louis were both wonderful but god, I had forgotten how loud it gets at points — really could have done with being turned down a little bit, particularly when the wizard uses the mechanical head. Thought the Fiyero was okay — better than Matt Willis at any rate — but he didn't sing As Long As You're Mine that well at all.
All in all a pleasant afternoon, but I probably won't be rushing back unless there's some particularly exciting casting in future cast changes

It is SO loud isn't it! Some kids near me were very scared. I don't understand it! Some parts are very quiet and I struggled to hear and then it was like being screamed at! the friend I was with had a headache by the interval because of it

It is SO loud isn't it! Some kids near me were very scared. Saw it a month ago mid Row C stalls and there were so many moments where dialogue would fade away or the vocals would be drowned out by the orchestra. But then there's moments like the Wizard's entrance and the Hurricane where I feared for my hearing. 😭

Apologies if it’s already been discussed but does Alexia do Wednesday matinee performances?

She's scheduled on for every show barring the holiday dates listed on the website.

Judging by the timing of the cast announcement last year, I take it the current cast have already confirmed if they will stay another year or not.
Does anyone know any rumours for cast change?

Hoping Kate will be bumped up to standby, she and Nicola have done brilliantly at going on sometimes at the drop of a hat (no pun intended)

Should be an announcement soon. Last year it was 7th November.
