She did her 8 scheduled shows this week it seems - ELphaba and Glinda always get one show off in a 9 show week

Does Wicked still have that dayseat thing going on when the crazies were camping out all hours of the night or did Covid see it off for good? They’ve moved it online now

Just my blooming luck to pick the one show out of 9 she, understandably, didn't do then! :-)

I’m just ridiculously excited to see/hear Alexia back after 13 years.

I miss the days of Jackie Hughes and the stage door Nutella. Simpler times, pure bliss.

The same faces still manage to hog the front row, you just have to look at the names on the photos of the final bows that the cast share every night on Instagram Does Wicked still have that dayseat thing going on when the crazies were camping out all hours of the night or did Covid see it off for good? Think covid has seen it off with the move to using TodayTix for the dayseats and selling the front row tickets online.

Well good because it was well out of control but I do rather miss reports on this thread about the latest drama. How about stage door? Microwaves? Nutella? Nutella gate, happy days

This morning I tried online to dayseat for next week and within minutes all the week was sold out as its Lucie's last week. I have only daysat physically and honestly I think I preferred it as tickets wouldn't go in seconds. Each day at least you had some sort of chance on someones last week.

Even worse is those who buy the front row seats then sell them on. Pure selfish! 😫

I think the regulars just buy up all the tickets between them just in case fifth cover midwife makes a rare appearance.

It came up on my Timehop today that its a year since we took our front row seats for one of Lucies first shows, full of hope and renewed faith. Yet, it was only just ok. Its a tired show, and its mysteries don’t thrill like they did. I’m not sure that its anyones fault; it just needs a rocket up its jacksy.

If they just changed the costumes and some of the set like the non replica versions we are seeing I genuinely think it would create such a buzz and a renewed interest for a lot of people. The rate it’s going I think it’ll close within the next couple of years

You lot will complain about the show being stale or dated but it’s ultimately delivery from the cast that makes it fresh roll on next month

I think the costumes are the least of its problems.

I like Wicked, but a bit like Hamilton it's very long and intense and it's not a fun show to go and see necessarily.

Thats exactly it. It needs the cast to be tip top. It is a show of peaks and troughs, and those peaks have a lot of heavy lifting to do to eradicate all the clunky exposition, Dillamond & Wizard songs and any poor performances. Gary Wilmott’s Wizard saved it for me last time because that made 2 of the low points much more bearable. But from the front row this should be thrilling and immerse you in it’s world. If it can’t do that something is wrong.

There are definitely things that could be done but it is whether the American team will allow it.

Laura Harrison is playing Elphaba for the evening show tonight (Saturday 25th February) Yeah, that seems about right. Regarding changes to the show - it would be wonderful if the powers that be would do some updating, but if anything, they seem to be trying to make all the productions stick closer and closer to a generic mold as the years go on. It's a shame because some of the direction is truly poor. I continue to think of the fact that, in the Hamburg production, Elphaba flew in during the governor's mansion scene, which made sense. Joe Mantello's direction in that scene accords her a power that she doesn't seem to have for the rest of the show. Unless she climbed into the wardrobe and just waited around a while (which seems unlikely), the staging in that scene indicates she has some sort of teleportation power, which she doesn't appear to have for the rest of the show and would actually remove any stakes from scenes like the catfight scene. I will say, I'm curious as to what they could do to make the flying better. I still think the effect is nice in its present form when timed correctly, and I'm wondering if it was as exciting when she was in the harness in the Hamburg production (or, for that matter, how they're going to accomplish it in the new Brazilian production).

Broomstick jumps into her hand, leg goes over, broomstick rises up and she circles Glinda for a bit then broomstick goes out over the audience like BTTF and finally poppins-esque up into gods just as she does the “Ohhhhhh oh oooooooooooh” at the end. People would wet themselves and the lights would barely be up before they were all over their socials telling their mates to come and see it. Tell me I’m wrong.

Laura Harrison is playing Elphaba for the evening show tonight (Saturday 25th February) What is the likelihood of Lucie doing a full 8 week show her last week. I just hope she does her last double saturday as I would like to see Lucie on a normal show day. At least if all fails I see her last show.
