For the matinee today Charli Baptie was on as Glinda and Michael Colbourne was on as Fiyero (26th September, 2021).

Hope Sophie and Alistair are well enough for the 15th anniversary show, I’m sure they’d hate to miss it!

I wonder if anything special will happen bar the obligatory Michael McCabe speech.
On the tenth anniversary lots of old cast members were on the stage at the end but I don't think that would be allowed now with covid protocols in place.

Considering we got nothing special for the 10th I have...no expectations of anything but a curtain call speech 😂

A beautiful performance of For Good from the Tony's last night. Kristen seemed genuinely touched at the end of her first verse.

I had the choice of going to reopening night or 15th birthday but I picked reopening as I figured it'd be more special. Given how little promo there's been on socials I figure we'll get a speech and maybe a balloon drop.

Really looking forward to tonight, 10th time at Wicked to celebrate the 15th anniversary show, and my first time back since December 2019 (obviously not by choice!) I reckon we’ll have a great atmosphere tonight, hoping for a very receptive audience but less crazy than reopening night was seeing as a lot of the superfans seemed to go then.

I think lots of the super fans will have been to opening night and many shows in-between, even though it was only a week or two ago.

That was a lovely evening. None of the craziness of reopening night. Also seemed calmer than 10th anniversary. I adore the special brochure with photos of all the leads from the last 15 years. I was like a school boy with this football stickers going through my ‘got’s and ‘not got’s. I’m sure they would have had previous cast on stage if we weren’t still in unusual times. Still too many talkers, the ones near me knew Chistery I believe!

I had such a lovely time tonight, I’m so glad I picked tonight instead of reopening night. It was fab audience tonight I thought, just the right amount of enthusiasm. I thought the Prosecco and gift bag were really nice touches considering they could have just done nothing and it did make tonight feel more of an occasion. I didn’t spot a huge amount of familiar faces from Wicked’s past but it sounds like they were there. I saw Sophie Linder-Lee, whom was my very first Glinda back in 2015, and Stephen Schwartz was literally just chilling in the foyer on his phone like any other person, I couldn’t believe it! He seemed like a really down to earth guy, just chatting with many fans but I was too nervous to go up to him. As for performances I was incredibly impressed with Laura tonight, she’s definitely come on a lot since I saw her as standby back in December 2019. The characterisation was great and her belt was gorgeous, really filled the theatre. And she basically sang the show to score which was a lovely change!!! I disagree about Sophie not being able to get the humour out of Glinda, most of her jokes landed tonight. I feel like she came into her own more as the show went on, maybe she was nervous at the beginning. Great voice anyway and definitely not a bad Glinda by any means, I just don’t think any of the UK Glindas can do the comedy as well as the American girls. Alistair’s a brilliant Fiyero and very good looking so job done. I really liked Kim Ismay this time around after not being too impressed with her in the past. Tonight Morrible was just an absolute bitch from day 1 and I loved it! I love Andy Hockley as the wizard because unlike many of his predecessors, he has a genuinely good voice and so I actually enjoyed the wizard’s songs for once. Carina Gillespie just looks way too old to be supposedly 18ish in Act I but she nailed her scene in Act II, she really gave everything she could to it. The only letdown of the cast for me was Nicholas McLean just because he was a bit camp for someone whose whole arc is based off of pursuing Glinda, but I think that seems to often be a problem with the Boqs to be honest. Overall it’s actually a really strong cast even if it doesn’t seem too “exciting” at first glance and they made tonight one to remember.

A few thoughts on last night's show I was really excited to be back at Wicked after not seeing it for about 4 years. It was also the 50th time I'd seen it so it seemed quite nice to go last night rather than the reopening. We saw Stephen Schwartz chilling outside Stage Door around 6pm as we walked past but he was on the intercom talking to somebody so it seemed rude to chat to him. Kinda wish I did though! Upon entry into the AV, everyone was handed a drinks voucher which was a nice touch. Who doesn't love a free drink! On our seats were a paper bag with a limited edition 15th anniversary programme, a pin badge, a 15th anniversary poster and Elphaba face mask - And some green tissue paper (random) - at this point, 18 year old me was crying with delight over free Wicked merch. In fact I grabbed another 4 programmes on the way out as they were just sitting there. Why do I do this? I have no room for these things haha The show: I hate to say it, but I really do feel like the show has lost it a bit. From the the opening number I just felt like the mic's were muffled and a bit grainy. I remember thinking this the last time I saw it too. It's such a shame. Show's like Book of Mormon have crystal clear sound - to the point that the actors don't even sound like they're talking/singing through a mic. Wicked really needs to upgrade their sound system. Laura Pick - Fine, she did the job. She can hold a note. I didn't think she was anything special if I'm honest. I prefer and Elphaba to really go for it (Not riffing hr head off, but just having that raw energy and power) Sophie Evans - Hate to say it but she is possibly the worst Glinda I've ever seen. I didn't find her funny at all. Her high notes were nice but come on....Some of the comedy lines she just completely glossed over. No waiting for a reaction, no expressions in her face etc. She just didn't do it for me. Alistair - Really great. A very good Fiyero. I loved him in Saigon so I may be biased but I thought he was on top form. It's so nice to have a Fiyero who can sing the score well too. My Wicked height was around the time they started name casting for Fiyero so it was nice to see/here someone more than able! I will still never forget how bad Lee Mead was (sorry fans) Nicholas as Boq - Is this guy a robot? I thought he was awful. It's like he was on autopilot. One thing that really stood out to me was the way he delivered lines/did certain things. A good example is when he grabs the knife in WWOTE - He didn't even look at the table. Nicholas the actor knows where the knife is and just grabs for it knowing it will be there. Boq the character should be frantically looking for something - anything that he can use to try and defend himself against Elphaba who he believes is Wicked. Also in MOTWH, his line "I have a personal score to settle with ELP---- WITH THE WITCH" just didn't work. Wait for the reaction...they don't know you know Elphaba so clarify that but correcting yourself with the "The witch" line. He just felt incredibly mis-cast to me. Kim - Good Morrible. Not a lot to say really I just came out last night feeling like the show was sooooo stale. It needs a new resident director to come in and give it a fresh take I think. It seems to have lost its magic a bit for me which is such a shame. Aren't I a negative Nancy
