Would be so happy to see Cynthia Erivo play Elphaba but fear that ship may have sailed as she's leading new productions (revivals but a new, big production) on Broadway!

Would be so happy to see Cynthia Erivo play Elphaba but fear that ship may have sailed as she's leading new productions (revivals but a new, big production) on Broadway! No idea how well Color Purple is doing on Broadway, but if it isn't too well - maybe she'll be succeeding Rachel Tucker, who knows? But I guess it's just wishful thinking.

Saw Wicked last night (first time in London since Rachel Tucker!) and was sosososososo thrilled to have Natalie M- been wanting to see her for ages. I was absolutely blown away- in my opinion she deserves to be more than 3rd in line! Stunning voice, note perfect, and a very funny Elphie with lots of small, added touches. Plus she looks so beautiful in the green! reaaaally hope she stays on at cast change! Funnily enough, I disliked her Elphaba even more than Emma's. I'd be devastated to find out she's on after having queued up for Natalie A in April and June. I've experienced this three times so far that Natalie A called in sick on short notice during Emma's holiday dates. Haven't seen Laura Emmitt, so I can't comment on her, but Natalie A is the only Elphie of the (other) three who I really enjoy. But as always: Each to their own taste, and I'm glad that you enjoyed the show Danielle Hope is the same age as Carrie Hope Fletcher, so if age is an issue, that isn't gonna happen for any of them anytime soon, and if it isn't an issue, I imagine they would cast Carrie before Danielle? Though I say that, Danielle has played a leading lady before in The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz, but Elphaba is a different ballgame vocally. Danielle could be Nessa! How great would it be to have both Danielle Hope and Daniel Hope playing Nessa and Boq together! We've discussed this already at you-know-where, haven't we? It's not a question of age but rather of experience. While Carrie's only big(ish) role was Eponine, Danielle played Eponine as well, and she was Dorothy in Wizard of OZ, the Narrator in Joseph and Maria in The Sound of Music. Admittedly, I'm not British, but shouldn't Danielle be more widely known to the UK public than Carrie (and be it because of the Over the Rainbow programme)? What has Carrie done that Joe Public knows about (other than being the sister of her brother)? Lastly: No offence meant. You seem to be a big Carrie fan (nothing wrong with that), but I just can't see her play Elphaba yet. Maybe in a couple of years.
Don't be silly, no need to say no offence, we all have our opinions and views.
In theory you are right, about 5/6 years ago, Danielle would be the more widely known out of the two, with the Over the Rainbow programme. But now she just does theatre. She has not appeared on TV really, she is just known really as "that girl who won that show on TV"
Carrie is a YouTuber, Actress, Musician, Author and Spokesperson. She has over 600,000 YouTube subscribers, and all of her other social media accounts are in the tens of thousands of followers. Her first book was a Number 1 bestseller and no doubt her second one will achieve similar success. Not to mention the stage door is consistantly flooded at the Queens theatre with fans of hers, some who haven't even seen the show but go solely to meet her as they know that is where she is (and no, I am not one of those kind of fans, but I do follow her and like her a lot) So it is not, in a sense, who is more well known, it is that Carrie has done more widespread projects that has therefore made her more well known.
Carrie will likely be asked to play Elphaba, but I suspect it will happen if/when the box office needs a significant boost.

Sorry, why well Carrie be asked to play elphaba? She may be asked to audition but she may not get it due to not being old enough (they'd have to match her age with a young fiyero and a young glinda), and not vocally strong enough. Wether she's had a published book or not.. They won't NEED her to help boost ticket sales!

I never said they will need her, I merely said if she does get asked, it will be when they need a boost. Along with plenty of other high profile actresses. And its not just me who has said she will very likely do it eventually... on the old forum a lot of members said she will most likely play the role in the future, so it is not an unpopular opinion.

Unlike any other star, including fans of Cynthia Erivo who has leading Broadway, do any of us say "she'll probably be asked to play elphaba.." of anyone! Carries fans are annoying as they imagine she'll definitely play it some day! Well reality check, i doubt she ever will!

I wouldn't doubt it, she has just as much a chance as any other female actress out there. And of course Carrie's followers are gonna choose out this role, as it is the most well known female leading role in the world!
But as I said, I am not a crazy Carrie fan, I am a person who likes her a lot and follows her on social media. I can see her playing this role and wouldn't be surprised if she ended up playing it, especially if they wanted a box office boost as she is a woman who can bring the fanbase, be a new Elphaba and actually have the talent to do it.
Though I do agree a few more years is needed for her to be able to do it.

I really really really cannot imagine Carrie as Elphaba - hope they cast someone other for it - i could imagine Celinde Schoenmaker would be great in that role ( i liked her Fantine, i absolutely don't like her Christine, but i think Elphaba would be something for her)

Celinde has a way too deep voice for me too play Glinda You mean the Celinde Schoenmaker who's currently playing Christine Daaé? She's definitely more of a Glinda than an Elphaba. Look at Gina Beck for instance - she's also a former Christine. Or Kristin Chenoweth. Erin Mackey.

Yes, her I don't think she has the typical Christine voice - i have heard audios of her and i think she sounds more like Carlotta than Christine , and i would never picture her as Glinda i am still waiting for the day to see Harriet Jones as Glinda -this would be my dream casting

Somebody has asked Rachel on Twitter if she will still play Elphaba after June 2016 and she has replied saying 'Yes'.
Has she signed up for London's 10th anniversary do we think?!

If Rachel continues as Elphaba my money would be on her taking lead on the new tour and not London.
Rachel was recently in Asia (Japan I think) doing a series of concerts, she'd be a known name to entice an overseas audience!

I did think that but would she want to travel around while she has a young child? I thought that would make her more likely for the anniversary.

...or extend her contract on Broadway. Wasn't she planning to relocate to New York / the US permanently?

(but if she were to carry on I would 100% put my money on London anniversary not tour- she wouldn't do that with Ben)
