Someone said on another thread this would transfer, surprised as it was a hard sell at the Menier. Perfect for a emergency transfer though.
Great our theatres don't stand dark like New York.
Should be an easy day ticket though.

I expect some people would have been waiting for a possible West End transfer before committing. I know I can get a decent seat in the Wyndham's for much less than a seat in the Chocolate Factory, so unless it's something special, I'll always wait for a possible transfer from there. (And if it doesn't transfer, then I wasn't meant to see it.)

There really is no need to see this play. It's enjoyable, which Mallardo might see as providing the quintessence of human scintillation. But so's a Starburst. We might as well just go for the Starburst.

Huh??? I said I thought it was "brilliant". Does "brilliant" equate with "the quintessence of human scintillation" in your lexicon?

IIRC Spangles were boiled sweets, fruit flavoured, square, with a circular concavity on each side; the same sort of thing as Tunes.

Saw this today - enjoyed it and the response from the rest of the audience was amazingly enthusiastic. By no means full and plenty of offers around at the moment so it can be seen for less than Menier prices as Showgirl predicted
Definitely worth a look but as others have said don't expect something as weighty as The Father

Glad to hear it's still going down well and hoping for offers but yet to see any; however, I'd prefer a matinee (otherwise an 8 pm start) and I think they don't start until after PN - though why all these transfers "need" a second PN is beyond me. Cynically I suspect it's just an excuse for more publicity. I can see the point if there has been a cast change or a long gap between the production closing at the original venue and (re)opening at the new, but so far as I am aware, neither applies in this case. I expect others here will be able to enlighten me?

I did know it was a short play but wish that producers would still adhere to normal start times when that happens - some of us would rather hang around for a shorter period beforehand and have a better chance of catching a train home afterwards. I wonder what causes them to choose such late starts? In this case, at the production's original home it might have been to accommodate pre-show diners at the in-house restaurant, but that no longer applies and an 8 pm start is out of kilter with other West End venues. Still, a 3.30 pm matinee is handy, so swings and roundabouts!

If anyone has a poor chance of catching a train home after a performance ending before 9.30pm, one has to wonder whether they are wise to attend anything in London on any evening before they intend to return home. Surely they can see that this is an issue for just a tiny and insignificant proportion of the potential audience, and it's ridiculous to suggest that everyone else should suffer for them. If everything were scheduled to end before 9.00pm, so as to satisfy you, then there would doubtless be whinges from Orkney and Shetland complaining that they need to leave at 8.15pm.

You obviously don't travel with Southern/Govia Thameslink Rail - and thank your lucky stars for that. |
