Didn't enjoy this. Didn't really like the songs, the main actor was more annoying then funny and I really disliked the stereotype gay jokes. Left at the interval.

Didn't enjoy this. Didn't really like the songs, the main actor was more annoying then funny and I really disliked the stereotype gay jokes. Left at the interval. Pretty much sums up my thoughts on this as well. The kids who play the instruments are talented musicians and the girl who was the lead vocalist was good, but a lot of the younger cast struggled to stay in tune when singing and the resulting sound was not particularly pleasant. Afraid I thought the ensemble were very weak compared to the Matilda cast. The show itself I found excruciatingly unfunny at times, it just didn't work compared to the film. Far too many clichés and all a bit repetitive. The music is forgettable and certainly not vintage Lloyd-Webber. If I had been alone I would have left at the interval as well.

I've arrived at the theatre and I'm queuing for dayseats. There's no one else here and I'm quite paranoid I'm queuing in the wrong place 😂
Anyway, after 3 years of living with her, I've converted my housemate into a low key musical theatre fan, and she wants to see SoR so here we are. (Hopefully 😉). I've not seen it since previews so I'm excited to check it out today!

Update... box office opened at 10:05 and only me and one parent and child duo were queuing. Got 2 row T stalls seats for £20. Hopefully the view's alright. Will report on the show later!

For a Saturday at the end of half term that seems unexpected, have a great time! Perhaps that’s the way to go with this show next time I go.

I was shocked too. Perhaps people will show up later. I’m always shocked when I can get a day seat without arriving early to queue (conditioned by Wicked I guess)

I had read it was for maternity cover so I presume Florence plans to come back in August.

I had read it was for maternity cover so I presume Florence plans to come back in August. Florence is actually still with the show, and leaves in August to begin her maternity. She has said she's "too pregnant to be Mullins" so will be singing backstage. My guess is that she intended to perform until August, so they have maternity cover sorted for the (up to) 12 months from then. With her now needing to not be on stage, they'll have called Rosanna in to cover the gap until the main maternity cover starts. Phew, that was a mouthful.

What a brilliant show this is! I saw it on Saturday afternoon with my girls, and had no idea just how much fun it is! Will definitely be going again and I urge anybody who hasn't seen it to go get tickets ASAP!

I am not one of the SoR regulars but I just noticed it would seem cast are leaving in just over 2 months time. I just read about Rosanna rejoining the cast but only until 20th Aug. I am assuming then 20th Aug is going to be the last day for a number of cast members. Only because I was assuming the cast change would be the same time as last year.

Yep Stephen Leask has said his last show is 20th so definitely a cast change, seems odd that the cast change is only nine months since the last one and it’s only booking till January

Extension and new cast announced - Now booking to 20th October 2019. From 22nd of August the cast will be Craig Gallivan as Dewey with Jake Sharp as his alternate and Laura Tebbutt as Rosalie, Alan Pearson as Ned, Michelle Francis as Patty. I hadn't expected to make a return trip to this, but Laura Tebbutt really made an impression with her Fruma-Sarah in the CFT's Fiddler, so I might go back to see her as Rosalie!

I’m so glad Lloyd Webber has a hit again after so many dud shows. Do we think he will do another original show? I hope so...

Can anyone advise where would be the quietest place in the auditorium to sit for this show? @theatremonkey is very good on sightlines but not on, er, soundlines if I can call them that. I don't like loud rock musicals but an actor I like is joining the cast next month, which might get me to see it.

Hmm....hard to say as they will have designed the sound for everyone to hopefully get the maximum effect but what I would personally suggest is the back of the circle as then you're the most out of the way you can be yet it's still not a bad view. However, others (including our resident sound experts) may know or suggest different!

Think the auditorium is large enough to absorb the sound so rear stalls won’t be too painful. In contrast, nearly deafened at Heathers today at The Other Palace. Now THAT’S A loud musical.

Any plans for this to tour in the future? yes - the tour plans are currently on ice, but it'll happen most likely around 2020/21. I wonder if they're waiting for the show to close before commencing on tour?

Another thought Dawnstar , is to see a "relaxed" performance where they tone it down, perhaps. None scheduled at the moment, but if there is, it could help you, perhaps? I think I'd be driven up the wall by some of the rest of the audience. I am very bad at ignoring background noise. Relaxed performances may be intended for those with autism but for me with Asperger's they're really not a good idea.

I have a feeling the WMC will have this for there 2020 Christmas show wouldn't surprise me as we normally get the family shows at Christmas except miss Saigon last year. I wonder if Mean Girls would fit well in this theatre or Spongebob or a transfer from broadway 2019 season wouldn't surprise me.

Why didn’t School of Rock open at the London Palladium like it originally was?
