Is this the James Corden lead play then ? That really would ruffle some feathers.
I didn't see Gough in this and would love to but have a feeling she's probably had her time with this piece.

I believe that the production that James Corden was attached to is no longer happening - or possibly that Corden has left the project and they are still going ahead with it - but it was to be the world premiere of a play by a very experienced UK playwright with a very small cast, and was scheduled to be happening this spring/summer. Nothing to do with the Trafalgar. Denise Gough in People, Places and Things at the Trafalgar in 2024. Hard not to be excited by that.

I am relieved that these are two separate projects as I can think of few actors less suited to "People, Places and Things" than James Corden...

It’s a shame
And perhaps telling of the dearth of quality new writing
That we are being presented with revivals less than a decade after they premiered

Denise Goughs career should have gone stratospheric after she first played this, and it just hasn’t. I find this news a little depressing

Similar to Jerusalem with Sir Mark. I'm grateful anyways because I didn't catch it on the first two attempts.

Ah ATG. Put up the price of the Plus membership and then when a presale opens, an error message comes up saying I'm not an ATG Plus member. I am so happy I'm not renewing.

Denise Gough is one of my favourite theatre actors, and has been good in everything I've seen her in, with "Adler & Gibb" being my highlight. It is not a sign of failure to return to a role. Lots of theatre actors enjoy returning to key meaningful roles, like Mark Rylance in Jerusalem or Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Fleabag or Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard. Some of that is mentioned in a Guardian article here: www.theguardian.com/stage/2024/mar/11/denise-gough-people-places-and-thingsI love this bit: “I’m deemed ‘important’ now so I get treated really well all the time,” said Gough. “But then around me I see people who aren’t considered important treated badly. I think that if you get into a position of any power at all, especially as an actor, if you are number one or two on the call sheet, you have a responsibility."

Denise Gough while not in the same realms as say Emily Blunt or Florence Pugh has been working steadily with roles in TV and I would say her role in Andor has probably set her for life on the convention circuit.

Getting big on screen without doing any theatre is more of an LA/Hollywood thing. Most well-known UK-based actors became big on stage before screen.

She's taking this to Broadway in Spring 25 Her and Rob Madge. I don't understand the point you're trying to make? Denise is going to Broadway next year. It was a smash at St Ann's when they did it before and pandemic caused a delay in getting to New York...
